You can probrably get it off eBay for a buck or two..

It isn't that expensive, but it is pretty disappointing as they don't include it to shave $0.50 off their production costs.

I think they assume that some ppl may already have them. although its like buying a tv but not having a cord to plug it in because theres a chance that u can use ur old tv's cord.

That is why you can buy a printer for $25 at Wal-Mark.

It's such bullcrap...they make a fortune on selling USB cables at B&M stores because you're hostage to the need. Ethernet cables are the other one they rake you for...so frustrating.

This is the scam for the stores extra profit. I was looking at a DVI cable in Best Buy yesterday get this..... 10 foot $69.00, yeah thats right $69.00. I always find them at the computer shows in and around the New York City area for around $10.00. Cable prices in the store are a total rip off

Try your local OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Staples, see what's in the clearance section.

It sucks, but it is like buying a remote, that comes without batteries. It happens.

And they didn't even give me full ink cartridges. Just these "trial" sized ones.

Epson tested the idea of including USB cables with some of their printers, but the retail stores didn't like it. Most big retail chains make a 5%-7% profit on printers, scanners, and computers. Where as they make 20%-60% profit on USB cables, paper, ink, etc.

Most inkjet manufactors (Epson, HP, Canon, Lexmark, Brother) are now including full ink catriges in their printers ever since Epson started doing this. This only applies to inkjet printers though; lasers and fax machines still only get sample toner or thermal film.

i remember back in the day of the parallel port printers only they also don't include those cables. They were trying to sell me a printer starter kit with it for $30+ which includes your cable and some other stuff

I just bought a printer too and it did not come with a USB cable. I think its kind of a rip off.

At least it didn't come with a trial size ink. That would have really irked me.

What's the point of trial-sized cartridges (apart from obviously saving money)? You're going to decide you didn't like those cartridges? But, oops, you have the printer now.

Not providing USB cables made a bit more sense in the interim period when they sold printers with both USB and parallel.. but now it's just store profit. I've even found Belkin USB cables, usually an expensive brand, which are cheaper than the own-brand PC-Line ones in PC World, because the PC-Line ones are right next to the printers.

Both my printers (Phaser 3210, Officejet 5510) came with USB cables when I bought them. The Phaser 3210 didn't come with an LPT cable though, and I was using it through the parallel port at the time. Luckily I had a spare cable from an older printer.
