something I do not very understand,

why somebody likes to have a separate keypad? we also have the keypad at the RHS on most of our keyboards. Would it type faster on LHS?
what is their use? would it type faster?

Because sometimes people need to enter a lot of numbers for long periods of time for their job (e.g. finance or accounting, entering numbers in an Excel spreadsheet). And they may be using a laptop that doesn't have a NumPad. Or, they just prefer a separate NumPad, so they can move their keyboard away from their desk, and free up space to put other things like papers, notebooks, etc.
