i'm thinking about buying a 19 or 20 inch LCD, but my laptop is widescreen so does that mean my external LCD has to be widescreen too?

no, your external monitor must be supported by your graphics card, if you have intel integrated, most likely won't support past a certain resolution, if you have a higher end gfx card it will most like support resolutions for external monitors on 19" upto 1600x1200 or more? maybe? and for 21" (ideal!!!) would support 2200x17** i don't remember the exact, but it was over 2000x1600, which was amazing, as i have a 21 incher (no joke intended)... any monitor will do, but if u have to buy one get a 21" to 24"+ for real quality experience, dell always has sales get the 2407fp something like that...

yea, but widescreen lcd is much more expensive. i'm thinking about viewsonic cause it has decent quality and price, plus my old lcd is viewsonic and it still works great. i've been hearing alot about dell's new lcd. hm...
