This is quite a unique thing I'm asking for, so please hear me out first.
I just purchased a widescreen monitor(1900x1200, not 16:9 aspect ratio) and discovered when I connected my xbox360 to it, the screen doesn't scale to 720p or 1080p. In other words, a 1900x1080 source displayed on a 1900x1200 display looks skewed. What I wanted was when I connect my xbox360, there would be a black bars above and under the screen to compensate for the lost pixels in going from 1080p to 1900x1200 so that the video source will not look skewed.
Of course, I can solve this problem by purchasing a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor, but I'm so use to the 16:10 aspect ratio monitors, and I like the extra vertical space when doing work on the computer. I know monitors like this exist, such as my friend's dell ultrasharp monitor, but those are quite expensive.
Does anyone know of a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor that does this? I know Asus doesn't make them, as I just purchased one and will return it. As always, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the monitor's manual? You may be able to play with in the options

Just doing some googling I found a workaround: http://www.haxnetwork.net/showthread.php?p=84987
The problem is that the 360 will not support any 16:10 resolutions, and the monitor isn't designed to do aspect-preserving scaling. I'm not sure if ANY monitor is designed to do that. It's typically a video driver thing, it'd have to be enabled in the 360 and not the monitor.
Your other option would be to just buy a 16:9 aspect monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009157 -
16:10 monitors DO scale to 16:9. The cheap monitors usually do not come with this feature, and you probably have to pay more to get a monitor with this feature. My dell 2408wfp comes with this. It also has component input, s-video, composite, and hdmi, so you can connect about any console to this monitor.

Thanks for the input everyone. -
1680x1050 will give you your black bars. This won't be -as- sharp as 1920x1200, but you shouldn't get jaggies either because it is the same aspect ratio.
If you want to run 1920x1080 you will need to buy a monitor with the "1:1 pixel mapping" feature.
widescreen monitors(1900x1200) that rescales to 1080p from xbox,ps3?
