I voted corded because I don't trust wireless mice there is something fishy about them. And I also need something to stop my mouse from hitting the wall when I throw it. I love my MX5xx mice they are awesome.

Cords on mice always seem to get in the way. Mine always managed to snag the mouse pad which was really annoying. Go with a Logitech or Kensington mouse wireless mouse and you will not regret it.

On a wireless, you have to press the reset button about 5 million times and wait ages before it picks it up. It also goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity to "save power" - is their motive just to annoy you?

Some non-high performance ones are OK.

Also the Logitech G7 isn't that bad but it costs more so your much better going for the G5 corded alternative.

I have both a Razer DeathAdder and Logitech VX Revolution

Neither has ever dropped out on me. The VX's battery is still a shaving short of full on the batter meter, after 1 month of solid use. Both track on table, jeans, t-shirt and the golden retriever when she stayed still long enough for me to test

I have had no issue with "resetting" or "pushing buttons" with regards to the VX. Yes it goes into sleep mode, however, it has never ever taken more than a moment to wake up again. Put it this way, I've never had to wait for it

The only differences are in button layout and design of the respective mice. Also middle click noticeably better on Razer but it has a wire for the dog to attempt to bite whereas the VX is w-i-r-e-l-e-s-s!

However this post would therefore suggest you pay for what you get? For the money, I would expect zero tracking issues, wireless or no wires

Regards. Charlie, how abouts you add to the poll "both"?

I have a VX Revolution and there is no reset button because you don't need one. This mouse never loses contact with its receiver (only if you walk away with it). And the start up time after 5 minutes of not using the mouse is so short you really really barely even notice it (I know wireless mouses which do worse on this point. Unlike other wireless mouses, the VX Revolution probably does this well because it's meant for gaming). I also love the battery life. Although the mouse doesn't seem to save a lot of power by going stand by, its battery life is very good!

My previous wireless mouse, I got it with a keyboard I bought (good keyboard, bad mouse), ate batteries and functioned like you described. But I think mice got better and they don't function like that anymore.

I have used the Logitech MX900 for almost a year and the MX1000 after that for the last year and a half with no problems on my desktop. I have too many wires now with all my devices e.g. TV tuner, speaker cables, digital set top box, USB devices etc to go back to using a wired mouse and keyboard. I have the same opinion when it comes to my laptop.

I have recently ordered the Logitech VX Revolution and will be testing that with my laptop as soon as it arrives. No doubt I will be as happy as I have been with my previous wireless mice.

Since my new new laptop has bluetooth, I bought a nifty bluetooth mouse. It was on sale for 10 bucks, but normal retail is 70. I haven't used it on my computer yet (hasnt shipped et :() but i have on my brothers ps3 and i havent noticed any kind of lag or anything like that, and batteries arent a problem, i just connect it via usb and i charges when im not using it.

im thinkin of the ms 8000. the presenter version is too small i think and buttons are stiff but i like the desktop version. its bigger and got the rechargeable pad. one charge lasts 3 weeks so you dont even need the pad since it is a bluetooth mouse u can leave the pad at home or at office and just take the mouse with you when you go

Same here -1 for batteries +1 for cord.

Are there any wireless mouses that can be charged via USB? kinda like an mp3 player or something.

4 years ago I bought my first wireless mouse..

Since then, never touched a wired mouse again... :)

Logitech has mice that use a base getting power from usb to get charged.

Just bought a new laptop and I am looking for a wireless mouse. The Logitech G7 seems nice but I was wondering if it is too big to carry around (the mouse itself =P Not the charger).

Otherwise I will probably end up buying the VX revolution.

    Thanks

I was also looking for G7 but ended up with the VX rev.

The G7 may be better for games in terms of response, but has only one side button,is larger, batteries get discharged easily, and doesn't have the great wheel that VX has...

I'd go with corded...coz the wireless ones are usually hefty(atleast the ones I have seen and used)

Id get a corded mouse for the sake of price but the Logitech G7 was on sale for 50$ not long ago (think its still on sale for 57$ now wich is much better than 99$) and so I took advantage of it and I am very glad.

Less cords keeps things neater, but by no means do you need a cordless mouse.

My vote goes to wireless tho because the G7 is a great mouse and no cords means no tangles in my backpack also it matches my C90S perfectly :p

I also like to use my notebook like a jukebox and just play music, the wirless mouse lets me put my laptop out of the way and just have the mouse there to work with.

batteries are annoying/i'm not going to pay for them, i don't ever want to lose connection or have my mouse start to lag in a game, and i don't want to worry about losing receiver.

    +1 WIRED

    Compelled to post again

Battery on VX Revolution is still solid, 4/5 full after 1 month and a week of use... compartment for receiver and its never dropped or lagged

As before, I cannot fault either the VX or Razer DeathAdder too much. One is perfect for office, the other perfect for gaming

Technology has come on. I just do not have any such issues like as those cited... though I do wonder whether they are personal experiences or conjecture...
