    mine is powering off becuase the heatsink in my laptop makes it VERY hot. (im 90% sure this is the reason). i heard that one of theese would cool it so it behaved better. which one is best? (not over 50-60 USD)

    Sounds like a over heating issue to me I'd check out something like this Zalman ZM-NC2000

    You should also open it up and clean out all the dust that may be inside it, causing the heat.

    ^I just did that couple weeks ago because my computer was desk-meltingly hot. I blew out a vertiable **** load of dust and now the fan runs smoothly, and I have no more heat issues.

    as mentioned above, cleaning out the dust should solve your problem.

    cleaned out mine too. had a pretty large ball of dust by the fan. it runs MUCH cooler than it was right before i cleaned it.
