    Are you sure it works on all of them ?
    If yes, them would probably share the same OEM (None of Dell and Hp make the laptops themselves, they are made in third party companies like ASUS,etc)

    Is it a BT/RF/IR remote?

    It should, provided that there are drivers for it.
