My notebook is in my signature. I'm having issues getting my controller to work.

I have connected my controller and the drivers were installed but I can't get it to work.

Is there anything else I need to get other then the drivers and a controller? I'm connecting wired.

Are you using a Wired 360 controller or a Wireless controller with play and charge kit? The Play and Charge kit is only for charging on PC, it will not allow you to play. You need either the wired 360 controller or the wireless adapter for the wireless controller.

Like I said, I'm using a wired 360 controller. If the play and charge kit won't allow me to play (which doesn't make sense btw with a name like that), how or what do I need to use to play my games on my laptop?

Well the most obvious thing I can ask right off the bat, does the game support an Xbox 360 controller?

And if it does, did you select it from the Options Menu? (Sometimes you have to select controller for it to work)

If both are yes, you can try plugging in the controller first, then loading the game (some games require the controller to be plugged in first before the game is started).

You may need to use a third party program like Xpadder to allow the controller to function in games that don't normally allow it.

The play and charge kit is a odd name, it allows you to charge the controller and play on a Xbox 360 console. The controller actually still communicates via wireless mode, the cable is only used for charging.

I know you said you are attached with wired mode. But I'm still not sure if you have an actual wired controller or a wireless controller with the play and charge cable attached.

If you have a wireless Xbox 360 controller you'll need the wireless usb receiver for the laptop in order to work.

Go into your windows control panel and make sure the device is there and working.

If it is the controller is fine, and you can move onto trouble shooting your game.

If its not get past step 1 first of getting the gamepad working before you worry about the game.

I have used the 360 wired/wireless and my wii controllers just fine on the G73, and my custom joysticks.

Kind of tangential to the topic but it's called the play and charge kit because you can play while you charge.

Enter joy.cpl in run, you can configure your controller there.

You can only play wirelessly, the charging is the only thing the cable actually does. If you use the play and charge kit on the Xbox 360 console it is charging by USB and communicating wirelessly for gameplay.

    Quote from xbox.com :

    Play While You Charge
You can continue to use your controller to play on your Xbox 360 console while it charges. While connected with the charge cable, your controller will continue to use wireless signals for gameplay. Do not use the charge cable without either a rechargeable battery pack or AA battery pack installed on your wireless controller.
