I just purchased some altec lansing 2.1 speakers to go along with my xps-m140 but I seem to be getting this annoying clicking static sound from the wireless card (static goes away when I turn disable wireless). I read about this probelml and it seems to be common on unshielded laptops. It is there any way to get rid the static besides disabling the wireless or moving the speakers away from the laptop?

I'm not quite sure what the problme is? are the static sounds caused by vibrations from the external spreakers vibrating the Wireless card inside? If I'm correct, try opening opening the PCI cover panel on the bottom of the laptop and firmly pushing the wireless card in place, it may be that the connection is very slighly loose.

Have you updated the drivers for the speakers? And possibly the Wireless card?
