I have just purchased an Inspiron 9300. I grabbed the Targus Platinum 17inch bag at Circuit City while they had a rebate deal going on. But ... it isn't large enough for all the stuff I want to carry.

While I was there I looked at the Kensington and Icon bags. The Kensington Contour series might have been okay if they had a 17.

I have been looking at the Tom Bihn Super Ego with the Brain Cell insert, but it annoys me to spend that much without being able to inspect the thing in person first. Not to mention I can't get a good feel for just how much larger it is than the Targus.

I definitely do not want a backpack, other styles are options, though.

Anyone have any ideas for a bag/case that will protect the laptop and still offer me room for, say, a steel case of CDs/DVDs, 3-4 cables, a USB/Serial adaptor, fullsized mouse, a thick college text or two and probably ... shudder ... a USB floppy? Argh ... that's too much stuff to type, much less carry.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Wow! I don't know. I don't carry that much stuff around. I use the Dell backpack and I have plenty of room left, I can see myself carrying a book or two, the cables, adaptor and mouse but I'm not that sure on the floppy drive and the CD case

Kensington does have a Contour bag for 17in
    http://us.kensington.com/html/4141.html

I have it, and its a very big bag. You can fit everything you said, and even more in it. I notice with mine that i carried my 9300 and some accessories with it. Plus a couple of books -- in the end it was too heavy and very uncomfortable.

We also have a review on that particular bag:

Currently I'm using the SFbags Cargo bag. It has alot of room, but not as much as the the Kensington bag. Still enough to fit a couple of books in there with the laptop and a bunch of accessories. This bag is more comfortable to me and isn't as bulky as the Kensington is.

Does the 9300 actually fit inside the sleeve in the Contour Pro bag? There is at least one review at Amazon that suggests that it doesn't, but I am not sure the reviewer was reviewing the right bag.

    Thanks for the replies!
