I haven't heard the Z2300 but I would think that the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system would have to be up there.

I have the Z2300s and they really rock. listen to all kinds of music and watch alot of videos. I have been satisfied with their sound with everything I have listened to.

I've got the Z2300 as well! Absolutely love it, and its so cheap for the quality of it. No disortion of the bass and satellite speakers. REALLY REALLY GOOD! Best 2.1 by far.

i just opened mine today. very crisp looking speakers and a nice subwoofer. I have a crappy sound card on my card so things aren't too good but they'r excellent for the money.

    recommended.

Thanks for the feedback peeps, but now im gettin a bit worried bout my soundcard. I got one of them nifty realtek HD audio thingies. I happen to know most laptops have this, so should i be worried?

I'd highly recommend a real sound card with the Z-2300s . . . I remember using them out of my laptop's Azalia HD audio and they were terrible (all sorts of distortion). You really do need a sound card to take advantage of good speakers.
Even a cheap $30 USB sound card would work.

That said I'd highly recommend the Z-2300s. I own them and they have been great to me. I used them for a party not too long ago and they totally rocked - the level of volume these two speakers + sub can produce is amazing, you wouldn't think all that sound is coming out of just them. Clarity is great too.

If you're an audiophile though, the Klipsch would be better choices in my opinion.

Yes, get a good sound card. My Z5500 sounds crappy on the onboard sound card.

Sound cards incompatible with vista? If that were to happen, windows will be in big trouble.... (If they are incompatible, u wont even hear sounds if u use vista)

Well external sound cards. I'm not a sound expert. Read something about vista not supporting external sound cards or such. But if this isnt true which $30 dollar sound card shou I buy and from where?

You can check eBay for sound cards.

I use my Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA card with Vista no problems. The driver support on Creative's end is abysmal but the product works.

I'd say that the Klipsch are better, but the z2300's aren't bad at all.

i also remember reading something about hardware acceleration in vista not being supported... Another interesting tidbit is that if you go to the sound output screen in dxdiag there is no acceleration slider, like there was in xp...
Not sure exactly what that means though

Aego M by far if you're looking for a competely balanced audio with clarity and sound stage. Vocal is so much fuller than even my Z5500
