I'm not sure if amd's homepage will help you, didn't for me - but I posted a link to well working driver's not a long time ago, possibly even in this thread, go looking, on my phone it's too...annoying ;-)

Well I've tried all different drivers now and the card seems to work with all of them- even the auto detect from AMD site- installs 14.4- all with the firepro tab- so it must just be part of the catalyst.
I still have issues with the no sound over HDMI though- tried ticking custom install and adding the HDMI driver with 14.4 install etc.
Uninstalled first - plug in with tv off, restarted and installed -still no luck- I know the cables fine and it must be a driver issue- even gone back as far as I could find to 12.1 catalyst! still getting the "NOT PLUUGGED IN" you will need a cable to carry audio to your dvi device.
finds Panasonic tv in devices and printers - just no sound???
would the old drivers for my 4670m card work with the newer 6770m? as they normally seem to cover a range of cards? or is it not a good idea to try drivers not designed for the card fitted?

In short, no, it would not a good idea ;-) - of course amd usually offers driver packages (no driver needs dozens of megabytes) and the installer will choose them right one for your card. Trying to force the system to use the driver of the 4670 for your 6770 will most likely fail because Windows protects you from this... But if you really manage to succeed, having no sound via hdmi will suddenly seem much less of an important problem ;-)

I was just wondering if the original drivers from Acer would work, or if they would specifically be for the 4670- never had audio problem when I first setup the laptop.
I've just been deleting all the hidden monitors in device manager, about 12 of them lol! Then I had a look in audio devices and there's about 7 in there as well! Maybe the hdmi is still registered with one of the hidden items, so their all going!

Are you really able to do that? I have a 5935g (Same as 8935g just with "15.6 screen") and a romless HP 6770m/m5950 that I've been trying to get to work with the 5935g for months now. Ellric attempted to help me get it running, but it wouldn't work. It did boot with the card, but in windows black screen.

So your Screen showed bios / boot information but Windows doesn't? In that case probably the bios uses the on-board graphics and Windows tries to switch...

I most likely can add a vbios to your system bios, it's really no pro stuff cause you don't really change any code. If you like I can coach you through it - but in short, downloading Phoenix bios editor, newest version for your laptop and vbios (techpowerup.com) , open the notebook bios with Phoenix, look for the option roms (numbered), rename vbios to optionromXX (next free number), compile bios, flash... And then buy a card with own rom chip ;-)

still had no luck getting the hdmi audio to work - uninstalled and reinstalled loads of different graphics drivers and audio drivers- updated the realtek manager -still 'Not plugged in'
have just bought a cable to go in the headphones socket to the tv now
last effort maybe a windows reinstall but don't want to have to reinstall everything after- too much hassle.

That card doesn't appear to have the bios chip on it - bottom right hand side of the picture

This card doesn't have an own rom chip, BUT it is likely that it will work with a modded bios. It's your decision to try (do you need a modded bios? I am still running my own one, based on the unlocked 3212 bios from kizwan (shame this guy seems to have quit cracking bioses) - it contains vroms for the dell-version of the 6770m and for the gts250m (although i heard of only 1 person ever to get drivers for the 250m installed without crashing windows). If you want to, i can upload it to dropbox, alongside with the flashing tool - you'll still have to make a bootable usb stick.

So, if you want to be sure, buy for example this one: HD6770M HD6770 HD 6770M 216 0810001 DDR5 1GB VGA Video Card for MSI 1656 1675 1727 16F1 GE600 GE700-in Graphics Cards from Electronics on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

If you want to try your luck first, flash a bios with vrom and try the blue card. If it works, you save 70 bucks, if not, you wasted 80 - your decision, good louck :)

For those, how is not able to run HDMI with the sound, while 6770M or M4000 are installed - you`ll not be able to do that. The only possibility is to connect audio jack from the external speakers to audio-in in your laptops. I have the same issue with my M4000. I don`t know why it is so - with my old GT240M HDMI worked with the sound. But with these ATI cards there is this issue.

    Hello frxxl,
this is my first post, and i hope that you can help me.
In reply to your post #29 (same as #62 above, i think i hit "enter" too fast - sorry!) you say, that you have extracted a vbios out of an HP bios you downloaded.
    My questions are:
    - can you send me the hp-vbios for HD6770m or M5950 FirePro? I would like to integrate it in my sbios.
    - can you tell me how you extracted the vbios out of the downloaded hp-bios? i tried this several times with several methods, none worked.

My Notebook: acer aspire 8935g already with T9900, 8GB RAM, SSD Samsung 840 EVO 1TB and HD WD red 1TB and i wanted to change the videocard from hd4670 to hd6770m, but i did not read this thread or valuxin`s thread about integrating vbios in advance, so i bought a hd7660m with blue pcb, the reseller said this card is for hp notebooks only. I think i saw a picture with two videocards earlier in this thread, one red one and one blue one, and my video card looks exactly like the blue one, but i do not see any more pictures in this thread??

I allready tried to integrate the vbios from techpowerup, but this vbios did not work, maybe it was not extracted correctly, as the vbios has only 62k, and as i read in other threads the whistler-xt bios should be 128k? RBE also states that the dell bios may be corrupted, should be 128k.

So, frxxl, can you or anyone else in this wonderful forum help me?
    Thanks
    manza01

Hi, sorry, haven't been here for a while and it seems, notification-mails end off in my spamfolder now. I didnt expect to see any more posts here but I now do what i should have done back then already, here is the download-Link for the HP ATI 6770m, 1024mb for everyone interested:

I seriously hope that you already have made your notebook work, one way or the other, mine works still perfectly since i finished this upgrade-marathon (also have t9900, 8gb ram and 2 new hd's , one samsung ssd and one wd black series 1tb), no crashes and quick enough for everything we play on lanparties ;).

    Hello frxxl,
    sorry for my late reply!
Unfortunately i bricked my notebook-bios by testing crisis recovery. Result was: absolutely no reaction, no way to power up the notebook! Valuxin tried to help me, but no way as the notebook did not power up.
My Solution was: Buy an SOIC-8 Test Clip, and do some soldering to get an spipgm interface. Locate the right bios chip (! it is NOT the chip "U23" as written in the service manual, but the chip "U22"!), desolder the chip, extract the bios out of the bios.wph (exactly the first 2048k!!!), program the chip and solder it in again.
And really - my Notebook is alive again!!

Then i tried the vbios from your link, but this did not work too.
RadeonBiosEditor reports "file should be 128k for Whistler"

Please, could you upload your modified and working systembios (.wph) and send me the link? I have an acer 8935g too, so this should work.

    Many thanks!

    Hello Manza,

no need to be sorry, I dont check this thread any more, but a notification mail reached so here i am ;).

The download Link to the bios is here:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/50316160/FRXXL2.WPH

In advance, i'm sorry for the new boot-Logo, couldnt stop myself after all the work ;). Still i can't promise you this will work for you since there are so many different 6770m's out there and if you dont have exactly the right vbios in your system bios, it wont work.

Again, my recommendation is to buy this one here:
    http://de.aliexpress.com/item/for-A...770M-216-0810001-DDR5-1GB-MXM/1173214922.html

It was what i did in the end and it made me very profoundly happy despite the higher costs. Good Luck in any case :)

Just scrolled down in alibaba a bit further, take this one:
    http://de.aliexpress.com/item/HD677...eo-Card-for-MSI-1656-1675-1727/568487386.html

    Its the same and cheaper.

You want the red one because of the bios - the little chip it's got to have on it is, when the slot-contacts are bottom, top left very close to the end of the card and right below the second screw-hole (this expression doesn't sound right, it sounds like porn ;)....but i suppose you know what i mean.
