Yes but I think you don't need extra force to depress the keys.
You can also configure the touchpad if you are using Synaptics to use TapZones.

Thanks for the reply man. Do you personally go all the way to the left for a left click? Or is it normal to press it from let's say 1cm from the left border. This laptop would be perfect in my eyes if it had 2 independent buttons.
-
Yep. same single piece / two button underneath design. Doesn't bother me much, but i can see how it could a lot of folk.
-
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go to a store that has it so I can play with it. Anyone know of any B&Ms that have these?
-
hey all,
i bought a 3820T from amazon but it didn't come with the drivers and utilities disk. is there an image of this disk anywhere, or a comprehensive list of the pre-loaded drivers? there are too many different versions of everything (some out of date) on the acer website so it's confusing.
thanks! -
Use eRecovery to burn Windows recovery disks and Apps & drivers disc.
Drivers on the latter won't be the most recent one but will be the original ones that are guaranteed to work- in case of trouble you know you can revert to those. -
eRecovery...does this burn the drivers from the hidden partition on my HD?
edit: nevermind, i already formatted my drive so no eRecovery for me. -
Try this ... Step5 Go there and look at the top left where it says "need to know what drivers to install on your system?" or something like that. Hit the green "i" and run the program that will ID your equipment. The rest should be easier.

thanks, turns out i have the correct drivers installed, except for webcam but it's working fine with the default drivers anyways.
last question; how can i get a 'middle click' working? i need this button to open new tabs in chrome!! -
Hey does anyone know what type of Bluetooth Drivers I would need. I did a complete format with including the recovery partition. Now i was able to find drivers for everything, and even more updated ones based on other models. The one thing that is driving me crazy is the Bluetooth drivers.
So i ran the Acer utility and it said download WiFi Broadcom drivers and Atheros Bluetooth drivers.
Furthermore when i flip the laptop i see a WiFi card of BCM943225HM or BRCM 1045 and a Foxconn Bluetooth BCM92046.
I also tried installing the broadcom wicomm drivers, they found it too, but i just want to pick the right drivers so no errors. -

Hey guys, what wifi card is recommended to upgrade to vs the Atheros one that came with the original 3820T which won't even accept 5Ghz?
Thx -
Intel 6200 would be a good and cheap choice (not 6230 though - addition of Bluetooth gives also additional problems that Intel is unable to solve)
-
I assume an AC based card simply wont' work on this laptop? Is it because the CPU won't accept it?
Tx -
It will kinda work- CPU and chipset are fine, but the card... Intel 7260 is what's scientifically known as "crap". It's not obvious if it's a bad design or driver issue although the latter seems more plausible.
Still this thread is a testament to its crapiness. It will not work on 802.11n and 802.11ac with good throughput and stable connection on any driver. There are multiple drivers that work fine on one band and/or type of connection but not on others. If you used a 5GHz 802.11ac router at home and 2.4GHz 802.11n at work/school/airport you'd have to re-install different drivers every time you change locations.
Stay away for now. If Intel fixes those issues that's another story (although it's one big "if" seeing how issues with 6230 are still unresolved as far as I know) -
Thanks, so I actually had a 6200 in an older work laptop. Pulled it out and put it into the 3820T just now, installed the Intel driver set for it.
But for some reason it won't work. Says "This Device Cannot Start. (Code 10)" in the Properties.
Model number is 622ANHMW, IC is 1000M-622ANHNU
Will fiddle around for a bit (already did the reboot thing), any ideas?
Works fine in the other lappy. -
Is the other laptop a Lenovo by any chance?
-
Hmm ... googling around implies there are different models of the 6200 and some work on the ACER's while others do not...

Here's the thread I'm referring to ...

Seems this person had the 4820T, same issue. -
Yeah - that are the only two possibilities. Lenovo and HP ones don't work. Both companies include some (probably) hardware trick as a result those cards work only in Lenovo/HP machines and only Lenovo/HP cards work in their respective machines.
As a rule of thumb never buy hardware meant for Lenovo- it will never work. HP might work or not.
E-bay sellers know that so Lenovo and HP cards are clearly marked as such most of the time.
See this for example where card is clearly marked as not working with HP or Lenovo. This is a "normal" 6200.

Thanks, I was looking at one from the same seller that appears to be the right version per that link I provided.
Intel Wifi Link 6200 622AN HMWWB Half Height Minicard | eBay
But it has a different title from the one you sent (same picture though)? -
As long as it starts with AN it's a proper card (oddly there's also a b/g version). These cards are not available in retail so some of the numbers at the end indicate the type of packaging and number of cards in the package.

Thanks. While I'm at it, my daughter ripped off a number of keys from the keyboard a couple weeks back. I managed to replace all but 3 as the clips were damaged. Seems it's about $20 for the 3 keys after shipping (all I really need is the clip, not the actual key but I guess they don't just sell clips). I can get new keyboards off of ebay or amazon for about the same price.
Is it a better idea to get a full new keyboard, or too much of a PIA to change it?
