Arggh, don't know what to do now. I've pre-ordered the Acer from Insight. Considering cancelling and waiting for this.

EDIT: Think I'm going to stick with the Acer. Larger screen plus a non garish design. Insight sales said that Acer were not accepting orders until tomorrow (4/1/10)

It's supposedly available. Insight Uk are expecting two on Thursday.

EDIT: Insight website has now changed to '1 expected on 15/02/10.'

    From the ASUS G73's thread:

The 128 bit bus doesn't fit the DDR3 memories, and the display sucks. I'd really look for another laptop if I'd be you. ;)

OMG this runs rings around my 8930, have they improved the design for heating problems as the 8930 is like an oven without undervolting and mods, great specs, very tempted to get one, maybe the sofa will have to go on hold lol, im not buying if this overheats too though

Did you not read the link above?

    Those 3DMark results are awful.

Indeed, too bad Acer went for DDR3 instead of GDDR5, HUUUUGE difference.

HD5730 Mobile with DDR3 should be in the 7.5k'isk 3dmark06 range, and computers based on this cost a lot less.

I'm not well informed on video cards.

Doesn't the 8940g 3Dmark06 score fall relatively close to these scores of the 8942?

Is there an advantage to getting the 8942? Does being directx11 mean enough in itself to warrant getting the 8942 over the 8940?

Lastly, I really don't do much gaming (on PC anyway) and mainly use computer for rendering hi-def video.
Regarding rendering times, would the 8940 specs be just as good as the 8942 based solely on processor and video card?
I can always upgrade ram etc,...

    Thanks,

    James

I don't know, but I wouldn't buy that laptop anyway. Look at the review we posted, the display and the speakers suck as well.

I was interested in it, but, is it true that the video card performance are limited by the ddr3 vram?

I try not to, but it seems that our interests are similar at the moment so we often meet each other. :D
