Evilid, got it ... I'll ignore the Passmark message and I've updated the video drivers directly from Intel's website; problem fixed w/ the updated video driver 7.15.10.1829 released 6/19/2009.
FYI: I also picked up a 3810-6415 yesterday; there's definitely a difference between the TravelMate 370 vs. 3810-6415 as compared to the TravelMate 370 vs. 3810-4880. I plan to keep the 6415 and return the 4880.
Passmark CPU Mark Results:
TravelMate 370 w/ Intel Pentium 1.4 M = 338
Timeline 3810-4880 w/ SU2700 = 570
Timeline 3810-6415 w/ SU9400 = 1248
Also, do you happen to know where is the Bluetooth feature in the 6415; I tried updating the Bluetooth drivers form Acer's website however the installation states it cannot find the hardware?

Evilid, got it ... I totally missed the Bluetooth FN key; I've now even glanced at the Acer Quick Guide. Thanks.
I plan to go to Windows 7 when it's officially released in October 2009. According to http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...&postcount=588 ... I updated launchmanager from Acer's website however I did not see any differences. I also tried to update epowermanagement however it did not install because a message stated that my current version is new than the one on Acer's website. What/Where is epowermanagement and launchmanager; are they background programs or can I manually edit them somewhere? What exactly does the leafty button do? How are people getting 8hrs+ in Vista ... are you using Power Saver, No Aero, etc? -
So after several months of search and waiting for the perfect netbook I've come across the following:
Acer Aspire One 751 (To be replaced by the 1810t Timeline)
Acer Timeline 3810T
Lenovo S12
This is my first netbook and I've havent really tried any of them out.
I bit the bullet on the 3810TZ at Frys for $550 or $609 after tax. I love the look of this laptop but im unsure about the performance.
The main thing i do is watch movies and surf. I mainly watch online shows on Hulu and maybe some flash games.
After updating some software i was able to get the Hulu shows and HD youtube to play smoothly, however flash games and vimeo Hd videos are still a little laggy.
My question is if the new CULV CPU's are supposed to be better than the Atom, should I expect the same or worse performance with flash related programs in Atom based netbooks (ie. Lenovo S12 ION or ASUS seashell)?
My reasoning is if its the same performance I would just keep the Acer but if Atoms or future netbooks are significantly different then I will just return the Acer and wait out another couple weeks for the S12 ION.
I have 15 days to decide so thanks in advance!
BTW: My budget is roughly 600 for a netbook between 11-13 inches. So the SU9400 is way out of my budget -
I have the Asus 1000HE. The Atom (even the N280) is completely unable to play youtube HD video unless you want to watch it in slideshow format.
ION will not help with flash video because flash does not utilize hardware acceleration. -
YEP the HD YouTube et all ability is based on the CPU, Adobe has promised to use GPU/CUDA sometime next year, as of the moment your best bet is to go for a TimeLine based on the su9400 (Dual Core) the atom only supports Hyper Threading (Poor mans Dual Core).
x810TZ's here all have the slower single core (1.2 ?), so at the moment you should look for a 3810TG Dual core su9400 as then you have dual core and the ATI graphics ... in the US at the moment however I believe that they only offer this, if you can get a hold of it, on the 4810TG (But this also includes a CD/DVD/Writer)
Please note as per the specs available here via Acer.. the 1810T will not offer the ATI option and a Core Solo
here is the product page ... http://www.acer.ae/acer/product.do?link=oln85e.redirect&changedAlts=&CRC=600100215#wrAjaxHistory=0
As far as I can tell the product page is hosted on an international server so it should end up with the same over all spec in your country, but your local organization will decide on, what is released and when, based on the General Spec above... -
SU9400, not SU9500.
-
Damn. Thanks for the quick replies guys. I was afraid of that. I guess I'll just stick with the 3810TZ. If only the 1810T looked anything like the actual TIMELINE series I would've held off and bought it as 13.3" is a little bit on the large end of what i was looking for.

if you want peace of mind take it back and exchange it for the >3810T< at least you have a more powerfull CPU (su9400)and still 08:20 battery

I was ripped off by Acer! I ordered and paid for the Timeline 3810T-6415 online (the 6415 has the TU9400 Duo CPU, 4GB memory, and Bluetooth). What I received was the Timeline 3810T-8640 (SU3500 Solo CPU, 2GB memory, no Bluetooth). Price difference about $210.
Both the box and the bottom of the computer were labeled as the higher 6415 model, but when I started up the computer for the first time and checked the components, the System screen showed that I got the lesser model.
After a few calls to the online seller J&R Music, they quickly gave me a choice return the computer for a full refund, or provide me with a $100 credit. Heres the problem I live and work in Asia, and it took weeks of effort to get the computer shipped first to a US address and then hand carried to me (no option for shipping direct to Asia). To ship it back to the US would have cost me more than the price difference, and thats assuming that I could ship it without lots of hassle, including paying hefty Customs duties. So I took the $100 credit. J&R was very willing to help me with .
Now the rub I called Acer Support a half dozen times and e-mailed them 4 times, and the idiots there gave brain dead responses. After verifying your serial number I find that the model number of your product is AS3810T-6415 and you can check the specification of your product by going through the following link. Got this response several times, along with other time-wasting conversations. Useless! I know what the serial number says, and I know what is in the machine. Someone at the factory mislabeled it and shoved it out the door.
I even asked if they would at least compensate me a little by sending me 2 more gigs of RAM to make it the 4GB that was promised. Oh, let me pass you to my supervisor, then I end up with someone in Repair who says they only fix things, they cant agree to anything like solving my problem.
Congratulations, Acer! Youve lost me as a customer! -
OK I swear that one moment it's there, a few moments later I check and its not !!
something weird is going on with Acer website
Try going through this site:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html -
Acer doesn't sell direct to customer but through retailers so you should have ordered from a more reputable retailer instead.
They track each machine by serial and won't know what machine you originally bought. -
Folks: Going to different support websites won't help. If you go to the driver section, right click in the main content area and (assuming you're using Firefox) click "This Frame..." then "Show Only This Frame." Regardless of your originating site, you will end up at http://global-download.acer.com/GDHome.aspx?SC=EMEA_1&LC=en.

Can the Core 2 Solo SU3500 in the 15" model handle Youtube HD?
can it handle 720p content streaming out to an LCD and regular web browsing? -
Youtube HD no. -
The 1.10 BIOS for the 3810T is back up at http://global-download.acer.com/GDHome.aspx?SC=PA_6&LC=en#

How big is the power supply on these. Can someone take a picture. I see lots of the notebook itself but none of the actual PS.
-
I'm at work so I don't have my camera, but I can give you numbers anyways. I'm using a 3810T-8503 with a 65W transformer. The brick is pretty small, approx 1.75" x 4.25" x 1.25", or 4.3cm x 10.7cm x 3.0cm. The cables are around 6' (~2m) long so you can comfortably be around 10' (~3m) from your main power plug.

Seems like Acer is getting the volume cranking for its models and nothing has changed much. Same models, same prices. Just production and volume now since everyone is asking about them and buying them in the masses.
Acer Power brick should be in the newegg picture sets.

So the bios is officially out, and every time I try to install it, it says it's incompatible with 64 bit windows. And supposedly I downloaded the 64-bit version!
-
-
So if you look in the downloaded file u will find that its the DOS updater only..
So you need to download 1.08 and unzip it to a folder then...
Rename the JM31.FOD JM31.FOD.OLD
Copy the JM31.110 file and rename it to J31.FOD
-------------
Copy the JM31.110 to the DOS sub directory
Rename the JM31.108 to JM31.108.old
Rename the JM31.110 to JM31.108
Don't know if you need to do this but I did just to get it to work !!
---------
And now start the winflasher (it will take care of the 32/64 Bit version stuff)
So ran all the way through no issues..
So WEI in vista 6 Home Premium went from 3.1 ->3.2
Will update with Win 7 Scores..
So WEI in 7 went from 3.1->3.2
Note as WEI in 7 is based on a score of 1-7 (Vista was 1-5) this means a bigger improvement on 7 (Using the latest Intel Drivers ... not Acer on Compatibility mode)

Can anyone tell me the benefits of upgrading to BIOS version 1.10? I just got the 3810T SU9400 model today, and I'm loving it so far... wouldn't want to spoil all the fun with a faulty BIOS update...
Also, is there a way to install Windows 7 other than through a DVD or flash drive? Can I set my laptop to boot from the Windows 7 ISO/folder on my desktop computer through a LAN cable or network? Or is it possible to boot from an iPod Touch?
EDIT: Also, for those of you interested, I was able to run wPrime on the SU9400 model successfully. I could only run v. 1.55 though, as v. 2.0 would display an error on start-upAnyways, I was able to get 56.4 seconds on the 32m test, about a 10 increase from the T7250 laptop I upgraded/downgraded from.
