Any idea when the acer travelmate timeline 11" is coming out with the nvidia 330 video card? It's mentioned earlier in this thread. Sorry to post about it here but this is the only place so far that has info on it that I've seen. If there is a thread please let me know. It's 8172 model number with an i3 and the same video card as the new Sony vaio z and lighter than the Dell m11x which is the same 11"

Didn't it say 310 OR 330? http://www.notebookcheck.net/NBC-Onsite-Acer-s-Notebook-Lineup-2010.28995.0.html
maybe that's only for the bigger ones... Still 310 is the same as the ul30jt -
Unfortunately it will also eat the battery...the ul30jt gets only 4 hours, even though it uses optimus.
By the way it seems that the turbo mode of the i5 drains the battery big time, so this might be also a problem for the 1830. -

I was referring to this part of the link
TRAVELMATE IN TIMELINE X STYLE – INTEL CORE IN 11.6 INCHES
There already have been Travelmate models in Timeline variations. But this time, not only the thin looks are applied to the business devices, but also the "Xtreme" claim, with an Intel Core and GT330M (TM 8472, TM 8572) or 310M (TM8372) in a 14, 15.6 and 13.3 inch sizes. All TM Timeline models have an Easyport 4 Port replicator port (Ethernet, VGA, DVI-D, USB) and an optical drive. The latter hadn't been available in the 13.3 incher until now. Important for bulk customers: The manufacturer has let the Travelmate be GS certified (German safety certificate). For this, the display has to be AR-coated and the input devices have to comply with a few minimum requirements. An 11.6 inch TM 8172 (1.4 kg) is new to the Travelmate family program. A Core processor is also used in the smallest model. Acer's promise of a battery life of a workday applies to the Timeline models with a common CPU technology (8 hours, assessed with Mobile Mark 2007 Productivity Mode, Acer statement).

SOrry can't scroll to bottom to edit the above.. I meant to say, so Bronsky, on the 8172 there is no dedicated? That's disappointing
-
Edit;Sorry I just saw that the 8172 get HD graphics also. -
to toctoc and instantcoffe: the price of 1810TZ (400) is final, with taxes included. I dont know where you can get that in Germany, but here in the Czech republic you can get it from many places eg.
alza.cz/EN/SearchAdvanced.asp?EXPS=acer+1810 prices are in CZK, to get it in Euros - divided by 28 -

This is the sentence I was refering to above - I read that as saying that the 13.3, 14 and 15.6 travelmates get the Nvidia GPUs. The 11.6" gets integrated. Am I wrong? I really hope I'm wrong cause this would be an awesome device with a 310M.

Yes see page above
by the way, any idea if the asus 1215n might be a decent contender to the 11" timeline, setting aside the size difference? Although I'm assuming it's not even close given the processors -

The m11x is much heavier than the 1810 or the 1830, its heavier than the 3820, its almost as heavy as the 4820!
If I want something around 2kgs, I want something like the 4820 which is much much more powerful. -

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Intel launching ULV Core i5's in June. Don't care, bring on Sandy Bridge ulv! Or maybe I'd care if a Core i7-680UM was in there instead.
-
As for the performance of the i5...its quite nice...however it seems that the battery life will be about 20% lower in real life situations...this can be extrapolated from the ASUS UL30VT vs. JT.
-
In what ways will the Intel HD Graphics be better than Intel GMA 4500 ??
-
Later probably it only 3G (UMTS) is delivered!

Intel HD Graphics: Clarkdale?s On-Package GPU : Intel Core i5-661: Clarkdale Rings The Death Knell Of Core 2
They are good for video (movies) but not much for 3D. -
I was playing with notebook check and found this when I tried to find something small like the 1830 but with a slightly better graphics card ( other than m11x). Not as good processor as the 1830 as it's a culv su9600 (optional upgrade) but then that's better than the su7300. I'll toss it here in case someone else was looking for gpu as it's an optional ati mobility radeon HD 4550 which falls between the nvidia 210m in the ul30vt and the 310m in the ul30jt. It's a bit heavy but also a tablet so con and pro. Good battery life

Was it posted already that Amazon.de lists the 1830TZ?
It costs just 521,5 EUR and is available in about 2-3 weeks.
BUT it comes with this strange processor:
"Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830TZ-U542G32N 29,4 cm (11,6 Zoll) Notebook (Intel Pentium U5400, 1,2 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel HD Graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium)"
Does someone know more about that "Intel Pentium U5400"? -

Does anybody know the model #s of the timelines? Is the LX.Twn03.006 the Travelmate 8172? The 3820TG? Where are these posted, on the Acer site? If so, what is the model # for a 3820TG in either I5-540M or I7-620M w/HD 5650?

@ rana kirti I can see the Travelmate 11.6" available at 3 locations - 2 US, 1 Canadian. -

Haven't found any product listings for the 13.3" model yet (TravelMate 8372). Also, it appears that none of these have discrete graphics based on the descriptions. This makes sense I guess because discrete graphics are "optional" as described by Notebookcheck. -
Thanks I had spoken to the people at Neutronexpress and they were indicating that other travelmate models were due in. Provantage has the 14" already.

I'm really tempted to buy the 1810T for instant gratification... i'm 15 mins away from future shop..... my heart tells me to buy it now,today,immediately....
However my mind tells me to wait for a month for the 1830T so that i can benefit from the better Processor...!!!
This has been going on for 2 months....
I've never been in so much conflict..... -
It's not going to be one month. It will be longer because you don't want to be with the first people that buy the 1830T.It is going to be a new model and like all new models it will have some problems that will need to be ironed out.Especially with an untested i um processor. You want to hear some impressions first from the people"guinea pigs'' that bought it first. It may turn out that it isn't all that better than the 1810T.
You buy the 1810T,you make your heart happy, you get your instant gratification you have a solid proven machine that we all know what it can do by now.And if the 1830T 6-8 months down the road proves itself you sell your 1810T at ebay at minimal loss and you get it.Chances are you will be so happy with the 1810T that you won't want the 1830T and you will be happy to wait 1-1.5 years down the road when thw new ggeneration comes along with real NEW features like reliable low voltage processors,usb3 and all the other REALLY NEW features.
And finally and most important. No notebook in the world should make you loose sleep.Be in conflict for your job, your education, your loved ones.A notebook is not worth it..... -

acer.de has finally been updated and it showcases the TimelineX series on the front page.
edit : well, acer.fr too so I guess they are prepping the release! -
acer.com.my also updated with TimelineX

Thanks for your words.... And i really liked the way you explained the scenario to me.... Cheers to that.... What about you ? Are you also in the market for the 1830 or did you get the 1810... How long back did you get it and how's the performance...?
I got a question...
Suppose i get this for $600 from Futureshop and after 6 months i want to buy the 1830....
You mentioned that i could sell the 1810 on eBay.... How much can it fetch me after 6 months...?
Thanks.. -
-
wow, if my lappy can get that much back after 6 months thats great...
I just have one thing in my mind which if you could clear than i can go forward with my purchase...
See currently i use a Aspire 5670 with T2300 1.66 Ghz/2GB RAM/500 WD5400RPM/ Windows XP Home.
My normal usage is...
itunes running in background, 3 chrome windows with 10 tabs each, Downloads at the background, Editing in Picassa, and maybe a PDF or a Word document open...
and sometimes along with all of the above....
winrar/unzipping files
avg scan
transferring files
Now i find that sometimes my lappy just lags with all this happening... and i have to reboot or it becomes normal after the winrar unzipping, avg scan & transferring files is over. ( I defrag once a month and use other tools to clean registry, ccleaner, glarys etc to keep the lappy in top condition )
I'm concerned that with the SU7300 i'll be going down from 1.6 Ghz to 1.3 Ghz
1. Can the SU7300 handle all that i do with my laptop ?
2. Will having 4 GB Ram in the 1810 help ?
3. Will having Windows 7 over Windows XP help ?
4. Will replacing the stock 320 GB 5400RPM in 1810 with a Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 500GB help make it faster ?
All in all... i keen to know if going from my 5670 to 1810 will be increase in performance or decrease in performance or same performance ??
So after reading my requirements from a Laptop do you still recommend that i go for 1810 or do you feel the Core i5 in the 1830 is what i need...?
I really wanna be sure before purchase coz cant keep selling, purchasing again and again....
What do you say ? Others are welcome to give inputs too...
Thanks all.....
