hello people...as I see its a long time...since somebody posted something here...BUT...I am intrested in the modded BIOS only because of the RAM frequency.... I was so annoyed...because I have the powerfull core i5 - HD5650 and when i see tht the bios RAM is set for 1066 only... why did they do this? if it was 1333 it was so great...but the only way is the modded BIOS...and I use my laptop for work every day.....

is there any other bios tht have only changed RAM freq? or is there any way to manually change it? I dont want to try the modded one...i dont want to brick my work tool :p

Flashing in what way? Long/short flash, how many times? Any other leds flashing? Any beeping sound? Did you remove the flash drive with the BIOS before turning it on after flashing?

Disconnect adapter, remove battery. Press and hold power button for 30sec. Press and hold power button for 90sec. Connect adapter, turn on computer. Works?

Try re-seating the RAM. Just in case.

To recover the BIOS follow the same steps on the front page, except this time use "original" BIOS image (you can download it on front page too). Make sure you use USB stick of a respectable brand (Kingston, etc). Try removing the harddrive and repeating recovery.

Depends on what you want to achieve- if I remember correctly you can edit frequencies relatively easily but voltage changes do not work.

I wanted to change voltages. I can increase voltage to 1.05 V with Sapphire Trixx but I can't set it lower than 1.0 V.

If I remember correctly changing value in BIOS worked fine but the actual value didn't change- maybe there were some improvements to the method or I missed something but that's the last stage of this experiment I remember.
If anyone knows more please chime in...

Hi, I have a problem, I installed the mod bios, everything was fine until he went into the bios and changed a few options and after saving BIOS, the computer wakes up in literally a second and immediately turns off and so on. I can not even complete recovery of the stick because the computer after you turn right off. I read earlier that I just do not have a problem with it if someone found the solution?

p.s. I apologize for my poor English.

If you remove CMOS battery for a while it will reset all BIOS options to default.

tokone, I got the same problem like you. I successfully flash the 1.23 moded bios. But after I change some settings(Maybe sata & Graphics and UEFI).It can't power on again.(Power up a few seconds and off. Loop like this over and over again).Fn+ESC is not working. Remove CMOS battery will do nothing. The Insyde H2O save its settings in nvram. I finally sent it to Acer. They changed a mother board for me.

Apparently I write very bad in English. My question is that if someone managed to not freeze the computer by pressing the F2 key and you can modify BIOS settings.

In the past my 4820TG has been wakable via USB / IR trackball if it's plugged in and has stayed plugged in since I put it to sleep. Once I unplug it trackball events no longer woke it up.

Hi, I have a 4820TG and for some reason my ATi display isn't working. I tried to change the bios settings (which i did not know what version is it) from switchable to discrete. and now i got no display at all. i tried to flash the modded bios provided here but no luck it doesn't boot up. so i tried every single official bios and the only version works is 1.19. the thing is after i flashed the 1.19 no display still. Does anyone know which official bios version has the option of discrete and switchable? and mind showing me the photos of the bios interface so that i could actually select back to switchable without the display. help needed~!!!

As I understand it in this notebook BIOS settings are not reset by pulling out the battery. Tell me how to reset the BIOS settings hardware way?

I warn people with 5820TG, although this mod does work, it will ruin your cpu if you set it wrongly like I did. My i5 core does not work anymore (even tryed it in another laptop).

If your problem is specifically because ATI graphics is failed, you could fix this by setting your BIOS settings to defaults. I have included the steps you need to do it blindly (I think it was on page 3?). Or read below.

You can reset the BIOS settings via a special jumper and/or by taking out the BIOS battery. Please Google for a service manual for 4820TG or 5820G to find the correct procedure you need to follow to reset the BIOS to default.

    Hello there,

it seems like I made my system brick by choosing some unsupported Settings. When I try to boot my system the hdd and fan start to speed up and then the computers turns off again. After some seconds the computer tries to start again and turns off again. Actually it's a loop.

I managed to disassamble the whole notebook, removed the battery but nothing happened. If I short-circuiting the jumpers also nothing happens.

Is that a known error? How to fix it? The service manual say the jumpers are ONLY to clear the passwords. :(

I registered here to tell, that I bricked my Acer 5820TG at the same way as @cRaZy-bisCuiT and take it to the service. They told me that need to replace and flash KBC memory and flash BIOS in programmer.

Here is Acer Aspire 5820TG BIOS + KBC dump downloaded from Russian forum. Someone post there, that it's working dump. Details info:
    5820TG.
    Board ZR7B
    Bios + KBC tested

I hope it helps someone in similar situation.

Sorry for my english, it's not my national language ;)

You need to unsolder memory and flash it into the programmer.

Hey! Can someone here tell me where exactly is the CMOS battery in the 4820TG? I cannot find it anywhere. I want to reset bios settings and I think this is the only way I have left, as my laptop does not turn on at all anymore (blue light flash on, turn off, repeat). Thanks!

Tested on my 4820TG, works great! Really simple to apply, that's great (applied v2.25).

In fact, it's the only way to really disable the ATI GPU (which crashed on my computer, it regularly shows a black screen, reinstalling several different drivers did not help, so probably the card is almost dead), because else if you just try to uninstall the drivers and disable the ATI GPU in the Devices Manager, it will still be activated, eating energy and making the CPU a lot hotter than it should (90°C instead of 60°C).

    Thank's a lot!

    Hi,

I have a big problem. I was flashing modded bios, but after 10min the laptop didn't reboot, so I tried to turn of by pressing power button, but nothing happened.

Then (I did a stupid thing) I remove the battery and ac power, and now, the laptop does nothing! I plug in to ac power but no led is shining.

What could have happened? Need to replace motherboard?

    Thank you!!

Has anyone still got any pictures of the modded BIOS? I successfully flashed it, but since my dedicated card is broken I can't see anything, so I don't know how to switch to integrated graphics.

    Yes, I still need it!

I can't switch to the integrated graphics since my dedicated card is dead and I can't see the menu. If you could take pictures of every menu and option, that would help me a lot! Thank you very much!
