I tried with and without removing the external battery. It stays saved in the bios as VT ENABLED but VMWARE, VirtualBox and Virtual PC say it is still locked off and cannot load a 64 bit OS even though the CPU supports it.

It doesn't make sense. Were you able to install 64 bit OS in VMware? Can you post the screenshot of the error message?

@computerrob, I'll look into this later. Securable report look strange. Securable should report Yes for Hardware Virtualization if the CPU supported it regardless Virtualization is turn ON or OFF in BIOS. Can you dump CMOS Symbolic from NVRAM using SYMCMOS.EXE?

For sure Dell Studio 1558 doesn't come with switchable graphic card feature. Yes, Intel Core i3, i5 & some i7 processors have built in Integrated Graphic but it doesn't mean manufacturer will implement it in their final product. When I examined Acer Aspire 5740G & Packard Bell TJ75 BIOS, I found no problem in BIOS itself. The hidden "Graphic Mode" menu already set to "Switchable" by default. It is possible the PCI Express Graphic port for the integrated graphic card is disabled thus preventing BIOS from detecting it. I believe you have better hope in Does HM55 have switchable graaphics? discussion thread. I saw you already posted about this issue over there. I'm also believe nando4 can help you more on this matter. You should see nando4 other project.

@DavyGT, I found out that M11x BIOS is not compatible with PBE. For unknown reason PBE doesn't correctly decompress the BIOS image. I can read the ROM files but PBE will produced errors when trying to re-build the BIOS image.

Hey kizwan! Thanks for the modded BIOS for my Apsire 5920G! :)
All it seems to be OK, but in the Splash Screen can you replace the Intel Logo with a solid black image or with the Intel Logo in white and background in black?
Because it is showing like this: [IMG]

I wish you can fix it! ;)

As for the splash screen, I don't have a photo/image editor that can handle 8bit image. Last time I tried, the image become ugly.

@Kizwan - did you have time to look at the m11x phoenix bios? If so, I know we have TME enabled and can't utilize FSB. Can you enable fsb clock @333 instead of 266 and re-route voltage from another component such as onboard NIC to the CPU to increase voltage? Some out of the box thinking here might go a long way... I am willing to sacrifice onboard nic or blue tooth for extra mhz. Thoughts? Thanks, StevenX

Yes, I did take a look at the M11x BIOS. Right now I can't do anything abut the Bus Speed. As for the CPU voltage, I have some idea. Well at least one possible solution. Usually people use it for undervolting. The problem is it is a bit complex. This require us to modify the DSDT & SSDT table which reside in BIOS. I can't promise anything but I'll let you know if I have any progress on this matter.

@Kizwan - Thanks so much! I dont know about others, but if you are able to get the bus speed and extra voltage I would be more than willing to pay or donate. We really need the extra mhz... Big Time.

First of all ..... thank you very much for the effort you are putting into this

I am a Aspire 5738G owner and I would love to try the modded bios for it but I was wondering if it easy to have an exe file like the normal Acer bios where I can simply execute it in windows 7 x64 and it gets the job done because I am afraid to miss up anything when going into DOS

I dunno if my request is easy or hard I just wanted to give it a shot and I don't wanna be putting any extra stress on you so if it is hard just forget I ever asked for it :D

EDIT: also is there any chance that you can enable IDA feature in the bios ??? since the processor "T6600" supports that feature but it is disabled

Flashing BIOS in windows is much more dangerous than doing it in DOS. There are a lot of factors that can prevent successful BIOS flash, such as explorer.exe crashing. It is much safer to do it in DOS. If you're not comfortable in DOS, I'm afraid there is no other choice. There are a lot of resources out there regarding BIOS flash in DOS. Read & learn about it.

To enable the IDA features, you will need to have access to Intel SpeedStep Technology. You will need to disable the Intel SpeedStep. The latest modified BIOS for Acer Aspire 5738G available at post #593 already unlocked the Intel SpeedStep Technology menu.

wow thanks a lot I didn't know that all I needed is to disable EIST I thought IDA needs to be enable somehow even with EIST disabled ..... I will try to give the DOS bios a shot ... I just hope I don't miss everything up :D

hi, i am currently modding my bios for Acer 6530G, as there doesnt seem to be any mods available for AMD machines, by using acer 5536g bios as a reference for unlocking hidden features because its bios already has most of the chipset features available. i have managed to unlock the NB and SB chipset config sub-menus, confirmed by emulating it on PBE, but a problem arises when i try to access PCI express config menu within a sub-menu, where i get a "run-time error: 30009 invalid row value". i enabled the PCI express config sub-menu directly without going though the other submenus, but even then i get the same error message. please could someone help.

Finally been able to "repair" my 6930G, sent the motherboard to Bios-Fix (verry good communication and fast service, recommanded) and its working again :)

I have a SLIC activated Windows 7 so when i tried the bios file from the 1st page, bios advanced options were working but with SLIC 2.0 Windows activation wasnt working anymore.
So i tried the one from Darkening but it also was a SLIC 2.0 so i modified it to be SLIC 2.1 : 6930G.BIOSMOD.SLIC2.1.WPH

Bios advanced options and SLIC2.1 are working for me on this one, but its at your own risks (as always) :)

If your cpu support Intel VT (Virtualization Technology) you can activate/deactivate it on the unlocked bios (deactivated by default on normal bios).

You can also activate/deactivate some features such as Speedstep or C states.

    Hi Kizwan,
I have the following problem. I found that my Acer Aspire 5738G with Intel T6600 processor is running at 1197 MHz with a multiplier of 6 but max multiplier for this cpu is x11. My BIOS is Phoenix ver 1.25 and the Advanced tab is hidden. I am not sure but I think I can change multiplier value somewhere in the advanced options of the BIOS. Could you please tell me how to do this. Thanks in advance.
