The modified BIOS is based on BIOS ver 3210, not ver 3.232.

Please specify what do you want. If you're referring to SLIC modification, if you want to use BIOS ver 94.28, I will need ACPI dump (RW-everything report) from BIOS ver 94.28.

I don't need ACPI dump if you want to enable VT. Please read carefully. What is your computer specification? What processor do you have?

EDIT: Looks like Gateway P-6831FX have Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5450. It doesn't support VT according to Intel website.

    Hi all.

The modules arrived. Unfortunately, there's no difference with respect to the faster ones: I still get only 3113448 Kb of memory (about 3040.5 Mb or 2.97 Gb) in my system, according to "cat /proc/meminfo". The BIOS sees 3071 Mb (2.999 Gb), same as with the faster modules.

As kizwan already suspected, my system does not seem support 4Gb of memory. This in spite of the specs and the fact that Acer Help Desk assured me this laptop supports all 4Gb.

So this is it. I'll keep the modules since I'll use the extra 0.97Gb my system sees, and hope that I'll find something that will make my system use a bit more or the memory I installed.

    Best regards

What version of Window do you have installed. 32bit or 64bit? Because your mobo should take it but windows might be limiting how much it can use. 32bit can only usee 3.4gbs of ram, where as 64bit can use as much as you can give it

This is known issue for Acer Aspire 9420 family. I bet Acer support doesn't keep track this issue. Someone already complain about this to Acer a while a go. Back then Acer support told him that the extra 1GB is being used by I/O system. I read about this somewhere, a blog I think. I can't remember where. This is very funny, it only effected 4GB but not 3GB RAM. I'm also have read one interesting article (also can't remember where) a while a go an article(like wiki or something) about BUS in Aspire 9420's motherboard. It explained how 4GB RAM can only detected as 3GB RAM. What I can remember is that it explained the BUS width (I think) is only 32 bit. That is why when 4GB RAM is fitted, windows will detect 4GB RAM installed but also reported only 3GB RAM can be use.

Sorry Tomaszz. I don't think you can use the CPU. If you already tried the CPU with original BIOS & it is unbootable (if all LED is lit up but no display, it is still considered as unbootable), it will be still unbootable with the modified BIOS image.

This is a theory but the only thing I can think of right now is to update the CPU Microcode in BIOS to support q9200. The problem is I never tested this before, I haven't heard any success story on this matter & it is very risky since it involved the CPU. If you want take the risk & you have the CPU Microcode update with you, I'm happy to rebuild the BIOS image for you.

@wojnar, DO NOT proceed to flash your BIOS with the modified image. I detected some anomaly in the modified BIOS image. The modified BIOS image is rebuild successfully with Phoenix BIOS Editor (PBE). I even repeat the same process to make sure the modified BIOS is correct. The modified BIOS image does look OK but when I compared it with original BIOS image using HEX editor, I detect some anomaly in the modified one. I have disabled the download link for now.

I have successfully rebuild new modified BIOS image with VT menu unlocked. This time no more anomaly detected in the modified file. I will upload the new one later.

EDIT: @Guys, This is why it is VERY IMPORTANT to make sure you we're able to recover corrupted BIOS using CRISIS disk before flashing BIOS with modified image.

    Flashing process...OK
But after flashing I saw few stanged things:
    1. Some options in Advanced are twice:
    -quiet boot
-sata controller mode option (first is with compatibility and AHCI, and secound with compatible and enhanced)
    -sata raid enable.
    2. now restart first going to shut down and then normal boot.
    3. no Extreme CPU Speed option

    BUT

    Virtualization WORKS.

    Thank you

    1. For the duplicate menu, please use only the upper menu.
    - About duplicate Quiet Boot & SATA RAID Enabled menu, I didn't noticed it before but it safe to ignore them.
    - As for the SATA Controller Mode Option, ignore the second menu (compatible and enhanced).
    2. Do you mean; when restarting the computer, it will briefly power off (before BIOS POST) & turned ON again to continue booting the OS? I think this is new feature with the new BIOS version. I don't know what it is for but one of my notebook behave the same. It is completely OK.
    3. With the old BIOS do you have Extreme CPU Speed menu in BIOS menu? This menu is only visible IF your processor supported it.

I'm glad to hear VT is working for you. :)
The DSDT is indeed an original DSDT that came with BIOS ver 94.28. Can you take a picture & post it here. I want to see where it stops at boot. You can try fix the DSDT with fassl's DSDT Patcher.

You need to compare both DSDT (old & new) to see what is the differences between the two.

Have you got a compiled version loaded inside the operation system? Because between the new and old version a few IO ranges changed and if the system load an old version out of the system it will crash directly.

I already take a look & compared both DSDT. I suggest you to use the old DSDT as I think it is the most complete DSDT compared to new one. I found there are a couple of codes/function missing in the new DSDT. I believe the new DSDT is optimized for windows only.

    All components works under OSX.
I've changed Wifi to Asus WL-270N (Airport Extreme)
    And Processor to T8300.

With few kexts and dsdt modyfications works everything, only backlight control don't work after sleep.

I'm using Mac maybe half year.

I'll post the modified BIOS when it ready. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk.
Sorry, I can't do anything about 800MHz RAM. It depend on manufacturer implementation of the chipset. Usually not all chipset features are implemented by manufacturer for several reason.

I will take a look about the SATA RAID menu. If it is available, I'll post here 2nd version of the modified BIOS image. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk.

I don't know where to find it too. I re-check the Q9200 compatibility with your Aspire 6930G's chipset (Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset) at the Intel website. I found out that Q9200 is not listed as compatible CPU. Actually there is no Q9200 CPU listed at Intel website. Only Q9000 & Q9100 are listed. Please check Q9100 compatibility against your chipset. Does your Acer Aspire 6930G have ICH9M or ICH9EM chipset? If it doesn't, you're out of luck.
