Hi,
I have an Acer travelmate 4672 wlmi
that has a t2300e cpu that i want to upgrade to a t5600 or t7200.
And i cant find out if this laptop can make use of one of these processors with the current bios.
Can some one add the cpu microcode for the memrons?
(or check if its already there)
I downloaded this bios from acer.
Note: my laptop has an ati x1400 gpu and there are also models with intel gma950.

Your request is not supported.

Intel PM965 is 800Mhz capable looking intel datasheet...
Anyway at least raid it's a good option
Thanks -
As I said before it is up to manufacturer whether to implement it or not. It is not a BIOS problem.
-
Request Bios Mod for VT-Enable and step menu if availlble on extensa 5230
bios is here -
God news! I check my device menager and I have Intel (R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller.

Hi,
I successfully installed your MOD in my 5738G, but the screenshot available in your download does not correspond to my modified bios. I can't enable the virtualization (there is not such option).
Any idea about whats happening?
Thanks -
I will post the modified BIOS image when it ready. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk.

But you can't boot with the CPU, can you? Have you check at Intel website? Only these combination can support Q9100:-
Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset with 82801IBM I/O Controller Hub (ICH9M)
Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset with 82801IEM I/O Controller Hub (ICH9EM)
Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset with 82801IBM I/O Controller Hub (ICH9M)
Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset with 82801IEM I/O Controller Hub (ICH9EM)
I believe your notebook have different Intel 45 Chipset & for sure it doesn't have compatible I/O Controller Hub. -
Have you check your CPU specification at Intel website?
-
mmm I thought all 5738G would have the same CPU. How should I do this?
-
Kizwan how can i check that my notebook can recover corupted bios withs CRISIS disk .Is it possible to do before i dameged laptop ?
-
Ok sorry, I found it:
Intel® Core?2 Duo Processor P7350 (3M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) with SPEC Code(s) SLB53, SLGE3
I think my model does not support virtualization technology :-( -
Too bad. Unlike P7000 series CPU, all T7000 series CPU have VT feature.

here is the original bios
M17 zfactor BIOS
it has adrealy been modified by an other user
for some performance and to pach a hardware problem with the specific laptop how ever the said person deaseapered befor we could request more
so basicly the bios menu is a joke (just like every other bios for this lapto) we barely have any option to set anything so unhiding any menu you can would be very apreciated more specificaly EIST (for IDA) and VT (if a fsb speed menu is possible that would blow my mind)
if possible could you give a look a the DSDT cause curently we have no conntrol over the fan speed not even a way to monitor the fans speed i'm not hoping to much on that side but if possible would be greatly apreciated
and BONUS if you wishe have time to lose or whate ver as this is an alienware machine having the intel logo on boot sorta break it if it could be replaced i would very much enjoy
tell me what can be done and if you need any kind of aditional data -
The "advanced" menu is grouped, so it will make things much easier. As for the EIST, I'm afraid there is no option to turned it OFF or ON. I did found "EIST" word in the BIOS image but not for enabling or disabling it. So, let see what it can do.granyte said: ↑here is the original bios

For the DSDT + FAN request is not supported since it involved programming. I'll try look into it but I don't think it can be manually controlled since clearly it is hardware-controlled where the FAN speed changes according to temperature. I haven't found any (modern) notebook computer which have FAN can be manually controlled. Since you can't monitor the FAN speed, I doubt there is an entry for the FAN device(s) in DSDT. However, I'll try look into this.
As for the splash screen or boot image, I'll try look around if anybody already create a boot image for alienware (alienware logo maybe) because it will be easy for me to integrated it to the modified BIOS image. I already tried to design 16bit bitmap image myself before & the result is really ugly since I'm not a designer.
I'll post here the modified BIOS image when it ready. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk. -
i can provide you with a 16 bit bitmap image for boot logo just tell me what dimensions
for the dsdt well not controling don,t maters them as it would be a pain to do but no one can monitor them except the intel XTU but if the XTU can it definitly is possible how ever the XTU cause stability issue of doom on this system so if the dsdt can at least tell something about it i'd be good with it even if it's just sharing what you learn by looking in the DSDT i'd be happy
(the one who edited this bios befor told us he could give us software control over the fans but that it would require him to re write the whole coling handeling block and that he realy was not into this but he never mentioned monitoring them)
own and btw if you can set the CPU core voltage to 1.1625 in this version it's set to 1.2 and require those of us who don,t have a QX to instal the XTU to set it back to 1.1625 but then the XTU screw our window install that one is really last priority i can install a ummy window to take care of this if you prefer not mess with these kind of things
thanks again for your time
(if we atempt a crisis recovery a failed atempt will just end on our window desktop right?) -
1024x768 should be fine.granyte said: ↑i can provide you with a 16 bit bitmap image for boot logo just tell me what dimensionsClick to expand...
I don't have experienced on this but normally people change this in DSDT. I don't know whether zfactor follow this method or not. Make sure you put the original BIOS image in the CRISIS disk, not the modified one. This way you can determine whether the CRISIS disk is working or not. If it is working your notebook should boot with original BIOS (I assume currently you're using zfactor's BIOS). As far as I know, CRISIS disk is safe but I can't guarantee it. If it work, normally computer will either auto-reboot or auto-shutdown. Normally the recovery process take less than 15 minutes. So, if it doesn't auto-reboot or auto-shutdown after 15 minutes, you can assume it doesn't work & you can try with other media, e.g. floppy disk, USB flash drive or SD card. The hot key while plugging the power cord can be either Fn+Esc, Fn+B, Win+B, Fn+F or CTRL. So, make sure try every hot key.granyte said: ↑(if we atempt a crisis recovery a failed atempt will just end on our window desktop right?)Click to expand... -
well the original bios aka alienware's one comes with a self contained installer and such so i can't flash back to it how ever flashing back to stock would make my raid setting deseapear and set the voltage back up to 1.2 so i'll be able to tell quite esealy just by the sound of window stutering
unless the settings remain the same during a flash i can say that flashing my bios sofar was was not sucessful but i when ever i'm fressing the fn key the usb flashe befor the bios load which does not hapen normaly also pressing FN+esc makes the keyboard go red wich only hapens to tell me an error hapened befor shutdown or during previous boot -
Never mind i flahed wit the bios that you pointed me to in the other thread, it boots fine, but no extra menus, so maybe the rest of the hardware doesn't support vt.kizwan said: ↑I'll try look into this but the modified BIOS image already gone through a thorough modification process (please refer to post #213 & the rest conversations between me & ZakMcRofl).Click to expand...
