    @.NetRolller 3D

I didn't know acpi_5.0 uncompatibility issue I tried already (two days before) dsdt compiled with acpi_iasl_5.0 on ubuntu via dsdt override( http://blog.michael.kuron-germany.d...-in-recent-linux-kernels-without-recompiling/)
this issue I thought dsdt override didn't work for me not a dsdt uncompatibility
thanks for info about acpi support

How was your own's laptop dsdt_iasl5.0 fault mine is Operation system starts to boot and fan speed to full laptop shutdown suddenly

    I have a question about your firmware_mod
why you use ezh2o with memory hack modules in firmware has wrong checksums and other tools can't extract all modules such as 7-zip,andy's phoenixtool,python_scripts_from_marcan_blog

andy's phoenix tool great app and can be simply hack the bios's modules with correct checksums

    Regards

@sowi Good to know that someone else is in the same boat, and that it not something I am doing  You said you "Had" the same problem, does this mean the problem is now fixed?

@.NetRolller 3D Do you think its something that could be easily solved?

@osmoTR: Marcan's original scripts don't support the 5720G; use the modified 5720G-specific scripts in the comments.

The reason I use ezh2o is that Andy's tool doesn't allow replacing modules with bigger ones; it insists on preserving the size of all modules.

I do not memory-hack ezh2o - I use the "Module insert", "Module delete" and "Module replace" functions.

@jimmyjimmy: Any error messages on Linux? Also, are you using the nvidia or nouveau module?

No error message in Linux, just the same as in windows, the laptop screen cuts out during the boot Process.

<del>Not sure how to tell if it's Nvidia or a Nouveau?</del>
Edit: I tried both. The Nvidia Propriety driver (Current Version) lead to intermittent system lock-ups though.

    @.NetRolller 3D

Already I have modified scripts for icl50 and they works with your old releases(bios_allmenu_v2 bios_mxm_v3)
but your black edition bios can't be extracted via fsdump.py on windows or ubuntu

and some modules checksums not updated (andy's tool can't see those)such as setup utility module

@jimmyjimmy: Anything suspicious in the console with nouveau?

Also, if possible, post a console dump of the original 8600M GT.

@osmotr: Weird; apparently the Tiano FFS format is slightly different from the Insyde format.

EDIT: I think I found the reason why the 9920G's internal display doesn't work. A stupid MXM structure bug. D'oh! Expect a fixed version soon.

hehe, I downloaded a driver from the nvidia, and now I have beautiful strange colored lines :)
But as Netroller mentioned before, it's maybe an MXM bug, so I'll wait patiently until a new bios version comes and we'll see...

i try your last BIOS , it dosn´t work.

I´ve take the BIOS by 9920+9500mgs and flash with 8600mGT vBIOS
but i´ts always the same , on internal display every other line it´s like off
    and the color is confused.

What's the problem? Is it my mistake ?

I´ve take all BIOS and vBIOS i have found.

Weird, the 9500M GS shouldn't even need an SBIOS mod; simply flashing the card to the 9920G-specific 8600M GT VBIOS shall work.

But again, I can't guarantee that this SBIOS will work with G84/G86 cards (other than the factory 8600M GT). It is designed for GeForce 9-series upgrades.

I've taken first the original SBIOS and VBIOS but it doesn't really work.

If I take the V3 Beta and a 9300m It will then Work ?

@mushu666: Probably yes. However, a 9500M GS with the original 9920G 8600M GT VBIOS should be easier to do. (If you don't have a backup of the working VBIOS, but have a good soldering iron, try replacing the VBIOS chip with the one on your dead 8600M GT.)

@momol51: The Asus 9650M GT will never work, as it is not a true MXM card (no call to Int 15h, AX=5F80h in the VBIOS), and thus, can't support the 9920G's EDID-less display. Try flashing to 9600M GS/GT, or to 9700M GT (the latter will overclock the card slightly, while the former yield a downclock).

The GT 230M, 240M and 330M are incompatible with the 9920G for the same reason.

    Hello all!
I have acer 5520G notebook with 8600m gs (G86-770-A2) MXM module and this module is broken. Also i have work 9500m gs (G84-625-A2) MXM module from acer 6920G. When i replaced a broken module to work my laptop told me that the videocard does not fit and freezes on XP starup.
    What should i do?

@mushu666: Did you flash the original 8600M GT VBIOS into the 9500M GS? That should have worked.

@APTEM267: What do you mean by "told you that the videocard does not fit"? Also, boot in Safe mode and uninstall the Nvidia driver, then install a newer version.

I guess you have no image on the internal display even during bootup. In that case, your LCD panel, inverter, or display cable is likely broken.

@.NetRolller 3D: This means i see the following message: "ERROR: MXM structure not found or invalid.
Reflash MXM ROM or add MXM Structure and associated callback to SBIOS! POST will be halted for 30 seconds and performance will be limited to balanced performance mode until this is resolved"
Next loading bios normally. In safe mode windows is not loading and live CD not loading too.

There is a BIOS for the 5520G in post 1. That should take care of the error message on startup.

However, a freeze, reboot, BSOD or kernel panic on startup, that persists even in safe mode or when booting from a live CD is a sign that either the new card is broken too (plausible since the 9500M GS is just a rebranded and overclocked 8600M GT, with no changes made to the chip to curtail Bumpgate); or the northbridge is dying/dead.

Is this with the 8600M GT BIOS from your old card? (8600M GT VBIOSes downloaded from around the Net won't work; ONLY the original card's BIOS will do it.)

pls, I may have missed it, but I need to know the following: I have acer aspire 5920g with a faulty gpu. I found a 9600gt but I am not sure how to flash the new bios, given that the lappy is not working right now (not starting at all). Is it going to be flashed once installing the new gpu?

No, you need to flash the machine with the MXM card removed. Or, if you have access to another MXM system, then flash the VBIOS of the 9600M GT first (read back in this thread for the hex mod), then you can install it in the 5920G and flash the SBIOS the regular way.

@mushu666: Check your LVDS cable. A 9500M GS cross-flashed to the 9920G-specific 8600M GT VBIOS, running in a 9920G with an unmodified SBIOS should under no circumstances produce this error. It should either work perfectly, or just show a black screen, but not output a garbled image.

Is your original card completely dead? (If it is a GeForce 8, try baking it back to life for the flash.)

yep, the image was so pixalated that I baked it...now the card (8600gs) is dead! :D :D Probably I over did it with 250deg C for 10 min, most said something about 200deg C, but I felt overconfident because I used to reflow mine.

    @.NetRolller 3D:

I have my old card baked again and what can I say , It runs again.
With the original card is also perfect in the picture again properly.
So if it can, then only the card itself.
Or I got this wrong ?

@mushu666: Now that you have a working card, dump its VBIOS before it's too late. This one is the VBIOS that you should be using with the 9500M GS too.

I was able to flash the bios, so I think at least, because I am not having a working card. Anyway, one small question: It made the sound and restarted. I left it doing so 3-4 times, i was not sure if it was over. Thinking back I believe I should left it just one time, but that is no problem, Am I right?

Does it now boot (even if behind the black screen) with the 9500M GS installed?

@ .NetRolller 3D: I have the bios yet been secured.

Now I have given the 9500m back and think about whether I'll get the 9300m.

    I'm torn. ;-)
