Which CPU You have? Have You overclocked it?
-
-
I gave the setfsb bus guy the ICS chip id, cpuz dump txt and PLL dump too. So hopefully we should have an overclock option on the 3820TG's really soon. If I can overclock my i5 430 to a 520m level I won't bother upgrading the CPU. Btw I'm traveling with my 3820TG and its great. Like the weight and not a pain at all. Shame my zeroshock III 13.3 case didn't arrive in time.
I'm back Monday so maybe Wednesday or Thursday next week I can set aside some time to do a tutorial on how to mod the system for the backlit US keyboard -
Just can't stay away ... go back to your vacation.

Its been a few days, in the hotel resting now
No luck, the setfsb dev replied I'm a OC beginner and refunded my donation
Is the ICS chip not ICS9LRS3197AKLFT? I think he doesn't understand English very wellAnyone got a photo of the ICS, I see its here in the Chinese forum. But I cannot read it. Anyone got a clear photo or willing to open their 3820TG and report the ICS chip id?
Maybe try and email the setfsb developer too?

I called Acer USA today and they said the Timeline X's will be available to resellers by early July. The acer guy didn't have any idea about which models would come to the USA though. Anybody have an idea if the 3820TG with HD 5650 and an i5-430M will be released in the US?
-
Bronsky -
ugh... that's the only model I would consider buying. Maybe i'll just stick with this HP envy 15 with it's 2.5 hours of battery life :/ or get an envy 14.

Damnit.. -
Would it be possible to install an UMTS-module if you buy a model which dosen't carry that from start? i'm so close on buying an 450/5650/6-cell but i'm still kinda keen on having my 3G card in it and use my unlimited plan for real =)

Someone else needs to try email him. -

So which US reseller/retailer will have the 3820TG available with customizable options? I don't think I'd be content with only a i5-430m (don't want to be stuck with a low-end/mainstream CPU) Will 1toppc or Xotic carry this notebook?
-
The 3820TG is a good travel notebook. Even the 9 cell was OK to carry around, but for mobility, the 6 cell is the way to go. -

Yeah found the 3820TG-5454G64nks model also, although on some sites it is specced with 5470 and some others with 5650, confusing indeed.
Does anyone know of a international spare parts retailer? to buy umts module. Will probably be too long before they release 540/5650/umts so i'll go with the 450/5650 and install by myself, probably upgrade to ssd also.
Does the upcoming 580m have they same socket as current arrandales? so it will be upgradeable -
oc-freak dont you have 3820tg with i7 and 5650 ? would it be possible if you could benchmark bad company 2 on multiplayer with gpu o/c so we can compare fps increase(if any) to i5 in hendrickson acerr. that would be awesome
-
Did anyone buy an HD5470 version of the 3820TG? I'm looking for a 3DMark06 score from an I5 version.

The I5-540M/HD5650 would be a great combination in the 3820TG. Acer Insider tells us that there is a configuration with this CPU/GPU that was sold in Singapore. Hopefully 3820TG buyers will see it in the US. If the US does not see any high spec'ed models by late summer, the new I7-640M (3.46ghz) will be comming out, as will the I5-580M (3.33ghz). What then ... wait till end of the year refreshes?

I just orderd a TimelineX 3820T which comes with 2 GB DDR3, 1 DIMM. Because i want at least 4GB memory, I also orderd 2 GB DDR3 1066 MHz. In my opinion there is no good reason for removing the slot... -
Just the mini-pcie and slim slot seems to be removed. -
anyone else there using 620m/5650? what can you guys say about it?
-
Hi everyone,
I just want to thank you guys for all your posts, with special mention to Hendrickson and Bronsky. I've been lurking on this thread and on the Arrandale Timeline thread for almost a month now and with all the information that you have provided, I have finally decided to buy the 3820TG. However, I won't have it until July because I just asked a friend who had her vacation in Singapore to buy it at the PC Show and she won't be back in Europe until the 10th of July.
Here are the specs and the freebies:
Aspire 3820TG-524G64n
Intel® Core i5-520M processor
(2.40GHz with TurboBoost up to 2.93GHz, 3MB L3 cache)
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel® HM55 Express Chipset
Acer InviLink Nplify 802.11/b/g/n Wi-Fi CERTIFIED
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with Switchable Graphics technology
(1024MB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM)
4GB RAM, 640GB HDD
13.3 HD 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD, 16:9 aspect ratio
Integrated Bluetooth® 2.1+EDR
Integrated Acer CrystalEye webcam
Dolby Home Theatre® audio enhancement
Freebies:
Norman Security Suite
Microsoft Office Home & Student Edition
External DVD-RW Drive
All for SGD 1,598 or EUR 940. Taking into account the freebies, the laptop costs around EUR 720. Not bad compared to the German price of EUR 850. Plus I get to have a better CPU and US keyboard (I'm an Asian working in Europe so I prefer the US keyboard).
This is going to be my first personal laptop (been using Thinkpads as work/company laptop and desktop for home) and this thread would be a lot of help in configuring my 3820TG. I have never tried an overclock before but I guess I will learn it just by reading your posts and by asking some help every now and then. This is why we have this thread anyway. -
I am going to Europe, would greece have a US keyboard version or is that unlikely? Also would there be any other concerns with having that lapotop here in the US, as in other differences?
-
I should be getting my 3820tg tomorrow, its the i5-430, 5650 model.
I just had a quick question:
I'm not very familiar with how these Intel processors have been developing recently, and I was wondering if my old T7600 Core 2 Duo actually outperforms the 3820tg's i5-430?
That would be quite the irony, although I think someone said earlier upthread that for gaming and the sort, the GPU maxes out before the CPUT first. Is that true? -
Btw thanks to Bronsky and Barn I finally ordered my 3820TG (430 / 5650) today, I hope i'll get it in about one week. 1350 CHF (~1200$ / 980€with 3 years warranty and a free bag and mouse. Hope you can get yours soon
-
There's too much speculation in this thread. This should be strictly discussion related to owning and using the 3820TG. Other discussion should be in the "Official Arrandale Timeline Thread".
-
^ :s you got it mate!
-
where's hendrickson? this thread suddenly became toooo quiet. wake up guys!
i bet bronsky will keep this thread alive once he gets hold of his 3820
