I take that as a yes. But I can get one right now from Singapore for around $1300 USD. Anyone know if Acer has intl warranty or?

Thanks for the info. But how exactly can I import one? Also, I did a quick search of "Firdouse" in this thread, but I can't seem to find a post with their information on it.

No, I was just laughing at the question which has no answer. We have no idea when or if we will ever see the 3820TG in the US. The odds of seeing an I7-620M in the US is rather slim in the next couple of months IMO. I almost ordered one from Firdouse in Singapore a couple of weeks ago but decided not to because of the warranty issues. I think that Acer has an international warranty but you have to ask that question to the retailer who is selling you the machine. You may have to ship it back to the retailer you bought it from for the warranty work. My other concern was the cost of shipping between Singapore and the US every time you need warranty service. It could get expensive.

I know how tempting it is. I just want to see if we get 5650 models here in the US before I order from Singapore. The price is not bad. Does it include shipping? If you do get one from a retailer other than Firdouse who will ship directly to the US, would you let the OPs in this thread know where they can do the same if they wanted to? Thanks.

It's in the other thread. Here is the link to their May 28 circular showing the 3820TG. You can call them. Don't bother with emails or faxes - they don't answer them. They are +12 from East Coast US.

If Fry's can sell an Acer AS6930 17in with a i7-620m+5650, I think it wouldn't hurt for them to offer us in the US a 3820TG with the same combo :)

Hi! There are around 30 mins left when the battery is at 6% but it's going to hibernate or to sleep. Can We make it to hibernate only at 2%? I think that would be enough. In the contol panel, I can't change it lower than 6% (Hmm it's 5% with the new bios, that's cool but is it has to be at that high?

hi all, i have a burning question to ask regarding about the PCI issue.

the first page stated that we have to install the stock acer ATI Vga driver; is it this - VGA ATI VGA Driver 8.713.3.3000 198.2 MB 2010/06/09 ?

after following the steps, any way to check the PCI issue has been resolved?

    will greatly appreciate any advice!

    Thanks a lot!

BTW on ACER's site there're severel versions for the 3820 namely "G" , "TZ" , "TG" , "TZG". Does someone know the difference?

@Hendrickson: I see there are two versions of the 1.13 BIOS, both of them are 6.4 MB, but the relese dates are different - 17th May and 24th May.

Which one did You install? (Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find what's the difference).

I am thinking about ordering a 5820TG (really need the screen size) with i5-450 and HD5650, but could not find a dedicated thread for it.

Assuming the 3820TG is a smaller version, how much bloatware does it come with? Is it easily removable or is a reinstall of Win 7 recommended?

1400 SGD should be about 1000 USD.
Sounds like a pretty solid deal...
The i7 sells for 1550 (w/o taxes) which makes it around 1100USD..

Seems really impressive 13'', specially the temps that gpu is managing.... but kinda find high the 80C+ the cpu is getting on games... most of the time is the other way around.... anyone running a i7 620m or i5 540m to see how high is it going in games?

We haven't seen an I5-540M yet although we're told there is one. An I7 owner could probably answer your question better but the test temps seem to be indicative of the gaming temps. I think the low temps on the GPU are due to the dedicated sink/fan on that portion of the unit.

    Bronsky

That circular is from May 28th and I think they are sold out. I almost ordered one of these from Firdouse. You didn't see any I7's at the show you were at - did you? I like the photoshop of your name on the box - looks like that model was made just for you. :)

    Thank You!

The GPU's temp is truly amazing! I'm a bit concerned about the CPU's heat too, after 2 hours of GTA IV maxed out with the notebook sitting on a Notepal X2 cooler the max temps are 80 / 82 C, avarege temps are 75 / 77 C. Don't know what the safe temps for the i5 mobile processors are, they just tend to get hot during games.

The CPU is designed to run hot. It's max temp is 104C. We have seen temps of 87C with no throttling. Just sit back and enjoy the hot ride. :D Your max temps are actullly good.

I don't use a cooler and my CPU temps max at around 84 to 85. Ambient temps here are around 29 degrees. I'm happy with this.

GPU runs cool too, with AS5 it will be even better.

The cooling of the GPU is outstanding, no doubt about that.

My temps were measured in an air conditioned room, so ambient temps were around 22-23 C. Maybe it's just GTA 4 that stresses the cores so hard, other games might not even push them further than 70 C, I'll test other games later, plus I've refreshed the BIOS yesterday, haven't monitored the temps since then, so I'll might report some temperature drop (fingers crossed).

BTW my max temps without a cooler were around 84 / 87 C (BIOS 1.08).

For all who are concerned about the power of the 430M, it loads GTA IV faster - also handles it a bit better - than my friend's desktop Core 2 Quad Q 8xxx (not sure which one it exactly is).

I notice your windows 7 rating of the CPU and ram is down from mine. I clocked 6.7 proc and 5.9 for ram. Got the intel turbo drivers etc installed?
