Someone can please make a specific list of the hardware found inside the Acer 3000?
I'm speaking about bluetooth chipset, integrated car reader ecc.
It can be very useful for someone (like me) who wants to use an alternative operating system on it.

    Thank you.

I just got my TM3002 - I was a little reluctant to buy Acer, I always had the impression they were of lesser quality than the better known brands. But the only other widescreen 12.1" options I found were Sony (over-priced), Dell(built to fall apart) and Winbook(no thanks).

Overall its a pretty nice system, my only real complaint is that it gets quite hot. I think its because the metal casing radiates the heat and the panel where one's palms rest while using the keyboard is also a metal surface - on most systems this area is plastic even when the outter casing is all metal. I think they might be a critial design flaw.

However, for now I'm keeping it, if it gets too annoying I'll return it.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    enlaf,

I have the same problem. The fan would not stop spinning when plugged into the outlet.

It runs at mid-speed I think but it's constant.

I like everything else about this thing except this annoying heat problem. Perhaps little heat is ok but fan, I'm getting kinda annoyed.

I wonder if you are using acers image that uses the old FAT system to partition the hard drive. I have an TM 8104 and the fan being on was an issue I think if you put your own copy of windows xp pro and make sure the format is NTFS you should be fine. some sayh with the 8104 it reduces the fan being on all the time. If this works with the TM 3002 Im not for certain maybe someone else can confirm this.

    juanflahn,

I did, using Partition Magic 8.0, convert the partition to NTFS from FAT32

I don't see the difference between installing own copy of XP with NTFS file system and using Partition Magic to convert it to NTFS.

So the system is now NTFS.

Perhaps it is not the issue here??

    Does anyone know??

Anyway juanflahn, thank for your input

yeah youre right NTFS has nothing to do with that. I think I was just recalling what a I read in that I reinstalled windows at the same time as I repartioned the hard drive.
I was specifically trying to adress Acers Epowermanagement. In another forum about the TM8104 some were saying that installing XP pro prevented the fan from coming on as much as Acers prepackaged FAT image. I cant confirm that there is a diffence. I quickly installed XP PRo on my TM8104 and was oblivous to fan noise.
In other news I will soon own a TM3002. The weight and size is the biggest factor for the switch.

    juanflahn,

It might be the solution. I will try to install my own version of XP PRO to see what's up.

Acer PM is little buggy but I kinda like the customized settings that I can turn off certain settings without going into hardware manager.

    Thanks again

Just noticed that the ezDock docking station for this unit includes a DVI port. Does anyone know if that DVI port actually works with the TM3000 though?
