Actually you may find the bulk of your drivers on your notebook. When I decided to dualboot XP and Vista on my 7720G (Vista preinstalled) I ran into the same problems. I could boot up in XP but couldn't use the USB ports, graphics card, card reader, etc. One day, while in XP (on D drive), I started going through the C drive (Vista) file by file. I found the bulk of my drivers there along with their Vista counterparts. Total Commander is a good tool for this. Then I just ran the setup.exe files for everything marked XP and HEY PRESTO... it worked!!! Only missing then was the driver for my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 8400). Theat I got from some boffiny people. I wish I knew how to upload it to share it with you guys. Now everything works a charm.

Don't let people tell you that you can't put XP on a 7720. That's absolute rubbish.

Hi, I need to find the SATA driver for XP on the Aspire 5920. Is there any difference between the 5920 and the 5920G? I checked the different links from the forum, but can't seem to find this.

here's a bump to this thread...while the last post was some time ago, it seems that all XP drivers for Vista only model's has been removed. Canada doesn't have them, Euro doesn't have them and like is said two posts above mine, the FTP directories are empty now.

does anyone know if the drivers have been relocated or are available somewhere else?

I have a 5920-6470 that I bought from Circuit City. Is all I need to do is download the 5920 drivers from the Acer website to install XP properly on my computer? I noticed they have a lot more drivers for Vista than they do for XP, so I didn't know if that meant certain features won't work with XP. I am having trouble running some of my programs that worked well in XP, so I want to downgrade. I just want to confirm what drivers I would need to download.

No, You can do like me. First install web-camera drivers.Than remove it, and windows detect yours web-camera and gives you default windows xp drivers for it.And in my computer you will see your web-camera.

Thanks for the tip, but let me get this clear... I should first install the XP. Then I should install vista web-camera driver, then remove it and connect to the internet and start the automatic search for the camera driver. Is that correct?

from this link download web-camera driver: http://rapidshare.com/users/D2DUD5 . Install it, remove it, and windows xp automaticly detects your web-camera and gives default drivers.

    guys:

1-these drivers will work with Aspire 5520???
    2-what is "Acer Empowering Technology"?
3-removing the webcam means "disabling device" or removing it's drivers?

    thank you :)

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for a great thread!

I found it very usefull. Just installed XP on my Acer Aspire 5920 and everything is working great except for one thing.

My Blue-Ray drive isn't working properly. That is, its recognised as an ordinary CD-Rom/DVD rom. When I put a blueray disc in, it displays it as empty.

Are there any solutions for this problem, some drivers or?

    Thanks!

    cheers

    hello,

sorry to dig a old thread, but I'm stumped.

I got all the important drivers working on WinXp installed (Aspire 5920).

My webcam does not work properly. I got my webcam to show in "My Computer" and when I click on it I can see myself. However the image is flipped about the horizontal.

    I cannot take a picture.

I cannot use my webcam as a microphone.

    -Thanks

^ nevermind I got both the mic to work and can take pictures now.

You literally have to scream for the mic to hear you.

Yeah on-board mic sucks, I'd get an external if I were you.

By the way in the Volume controls, there should be a slider - Microphone Booster or something similar. Increase it and you won't need to scream anymore ;)
