i was quite surprised to see this thread start... now i know why i was surprised lol.

JimmyJ: you can add in a bluetooth module via USB, also you should be able to get an internal bluetooth module as well as the necessary cable from acer for any unit that has the switches on it to turn it on and off.

hi, i have a ferrari 3400, that runs very hot and turns itself off at an instant. i am wondering what i can do to help it. is there a later cpu i can pop in it, to replace the current AMD Athlon 64 3000+ that disipates less heat and will consume less energy in the hope that it will be cooler ?

also, what about a main board swap to upgrade to anything cooler ?

    any other ideas ?

    thanks

you wont be able to upgrade the cooler or anything really... they do have a tendancy to run extremely hot; especially if the thermal diodes have failed; i've seen these units run so hot that the lower cover has melted.
as far as i know none of the s754 turions will work in this unit.
it sounds to me that the unit has clogged the thermal module with dust but you dont mention how long the unit remains on for once you turn it on so i'm only guessing.
if there is indeed a fault with the unit a replacement mainboard from acer is very expensive and probably doesn't justify the cost for a unit of this age; if you're still under warranty i would definately send it in to have it looked at.
