thanks a lot for the file.

Now to the even better news. It looks like it won't be too hard to add bluetooth module

BLUETOOTH MODULE FOXCONN T60H928.01 (Broadcom BCM2045) Acer Part number: 54.ABHV5.002

BLUETOOTH CABLE Acer Part number: 0.ABHV5.003

It's located next to subwoofer. Instructions how to dissemble are in that pdf file (page 61-62)

Now, how can we go about ordering modules? Their parts website does not list bluetooth modules.

I just got new 5920 from BB. I’m also looking do add internal BT to this machine.
I’ll be really glad to receive service manual form one of you.

If someone is on the budget I have small suggestion about BT module. We can get the same module BCM92045NMD-95 dedicated for HP for 25$+sh from ebay. Only thing is, it needs to bee installed with HP drivers. I’d previously installed this BT in aspire 5601 and is working like a champ.

There is alot of variation on the BlueTooth part numbers being posted here, and same for the needed cable part number.

    But here they are... Straight out of the service manual;

    BlueTooth Module FOXCONN T60H928.01 (Broadcom BCM2045) page-94; 54.TAXV7.001

    BlueTooth Cable page-95; 50.TG607.001

well, that's great, but where do we get one. I don't think it's feasible to pay more then $20 for it. I bought Microsoft Wireless 7000 keyboard that came with bluetooth dongle, keyboard and mouse all for $100

If you get a link to the manual send it on will you to my pm please :D

toying with one of these or a hp dv9500t at the moment, this is winning due to the graphics being better and the fact it "could" be upgraded.

    Cheers

I've just added the FACTORY internal bluetooth module into my Acer Aspire 5920G.
It was missing when it was bought originally (Best Buy model - "No Device" when you press the button).

So I said f**k that, I'm not getting some 3rd party bluetooth USB module that will break off when I'm carrying my laptop around.

Here's what I did... it involves some surgery, so if you're not comfortable messing around inside your laptop (and taking it completely apart) then you should stop reading *right now*. Also, I am not responsible for any damage you may cause to your laptop when doing this. I'm by no means an expert, but I have been tinkering with electronics for a while, and I know some things NOT to do. My laptop has had the module installed, and was re-assembled and it works perfectly (not to mention looking like it wasn't ever taken apart). Your mileage may vary.

    What you'll need:
    1) Acer Aspire 5920G service manual PDF. Look for it on this forum or on google, it's out there.
    2) An assortment of flat-head and philips jewel screwdrivers for tiny screws. ideally they will be magnetic.
    3) "Arctic silver" or similar thermal compound (heat grease)
    4) Scotch tape for taping down the screws
    5) Factory bluetooth module, part number 54.TAXV7.001 - I ordered it from here: http://www.notebooksolutions.ca/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=882
    6) Factory bluetooth cable, part number 50.AGW07.007 - I ordered it from here: http://www.notebooksolutions.ca/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2737
    7) (ideally) grounding wrist strap and anti-static mat, get these at your local electronics supply shop
    8) 2 tiny tiny screws for securing the bluetooth module. you won't know what fits until you take everything apart...
    9) a lot of patience and steady hands

**PRINT OUT** the 5920G service manual, pages 56-66 (note these page #'s are for the PDF file, not what's printed on the actual pages).

You first want to clear an area big enough to work on taking the laptop apart and putting the parts you take out on the side.
Put your static mat down if you have it and connect the wrist strap to your wrist. Put the laptop on the mat and turn it upside down.

Basically what you want to do is follow the disassembly procedure as outlined starting on the first page you printed out. Mostly what it's going to involve is unscrewing tiny screws, removing parts (boards, hard drives, etc) from the chassis, disconnecting ribbon and other internal cables, and prying up some parts so they can be separated. Make sure you lay all sensitive electronics on anti-static bags, and be careful not to touch the surface of anything. Also be careful when disconnecting internal ribbon cables, some of them have a locking release lever (you just pull up / push down).

You only want to follow the manual until you get to the "take out the bluetooth module" step, at which point you install the module and follow it in reverse until you put the battery pack back in.

NOTE: the service manual is wrong in a few places - in a few steps, you need to remove a few more screws than it says. If you're trying to pry something apart, and it isn't going, LOOK to make sure the necessary screws are out! I'll reply to this post later with a list of everything that I found I needed to correct in the manual -- there's only a few things.

    Heat grease:
When re-assembling and when you're about to put in the thermal module, make sure there's adequate heat grease on the CPU (don't put TOO much on). Sometimes taking off the thermal module can upset the heat grease, you want to make sure there's a good thermal path for the CPU.

    Screw management:
There are a lot of tiny screws you have to take out when disassembling the laptop. I've found the best way to manage it is, while you're going through the steps in the service guide, tape the screws for that particular step right next to the text on the printed out page you're reading. Then when you re-assemble, go backwards through the steps and your screws will be right there waiting.

    Screws for bluetooth module:
When you get to the part where you have to install the bluetooth module, you'll notice that you need 2 tiny screws to screw it in that you don't have.
I just found the smallest screws I could find, and tested a bunch of them out. Whatever screws in there and holds the module in securely will work... but don't try to force a bigger screw into the hole.

    Bluetooth cable:
The cable connects into the mainboard right next to the subwoofer, you'll see - it's pretty obvious where it goes. Make sure to not force it in if it's upside down.

    Cable routing:
Make sure when you're re-assembling, you route the internal cables (such as the wireless antenna) through their proper holes and around the plastic stubs in the case. You want everything to be exactly as it was...

So in summary, the factory bluetooth module and cable will probably cost you some $$$ (I got raped from notebooksolutions.ca), however the end result is DEFINITELY worth it, the bluetooth button lights up and the functionality works perfect, I didn't even have to install the driver!

Yeah... if your 5920G came with bluetooth, that's one thing... however there are like 3 different varieties of the 5920G, some of them came without the bluetooth module, but they had the bluetooth button on the keyboard, which is deceptive.

My model was also cheaper, has a lower CPU speed, and comes with the "lower" network card (lacking wireless-N support).

I recently purchased the 5920 w/o bluetooth and I would really like to add it in the near future. I looked to email someone who offered it here, but I couldn't see how to do that. If someone reads this, could you please send it to me? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I figured out the PM option here, but after PM 2 different folks, and waiting a week, I still haven't heard anything. If anyone can help me out with a technical/service manual I would be very grateful.

    peace,
