same as before but it was pulsating differently this time, not as consistent. Then 2 min later it continued to pulsate as before. :(

Strange I see the fan speed in rpm this time and mode is BIOS??

wow.... i think v.12 did the trick!! stay tuned I will test it with long gaming sessions.

Edit: Okay it seems to work for balanced mode. It works for balanced mode!! The fan does not pulsate at all and it is running at what sounds like a high speed.

BUT when I switch my power plan to high performance the temperature (where it says Switch) goes above 90 or so and it switches to Mode=BIOS and State = Fan 4 at which point the fan starts to pulsate again. By the way, all my previous tests were done in high performance mode but this time I just happened to be on balanced mode and forgot to change it. Once I did change it, the pulsating started again.

So I have a feeling that this Fan 4 state is causing the problem. What do you think?

    Thank you

    Hani

    Hello 11hani11,

Your problem with the pulsating fan seems to do with the Windows Power Options to have.

The appendix contains the original ini -. File with minor changes.
This is likely the best ini -. File now be there for you.

    - Improved appearance
    - Do not write logfiles
    - All CPs are read (CP1, CP2, CP3, CP4)
    - Only a Smart Mode

    These changes all work!

Change the Windows Power Options and you have no pulsation of the fan more!

    Good luck ...

With best regards from Germany

There was someone asking about Aspire 5715Z, but still without clear answer.
Can you please take a look at my screenshots and help me to get the control right?
As far I found 2 temps under 176 and 177, and I also noticed that under 178 walues 45/50/55/60 are written as the fan incerases the speed.

I don't understand how to find the offsets. I think I'm doing it wrong

    1) I open speed fan to look at the temp of GPU and CPU
    2) I open up ACfan press Read EC1
    3) After a bit a bunch of numbers appear in the bottom left box

I assume I am supposed to compare the temperature with a number in the list that is the same? How do I know what the offset is, I don't understand.

    Edit: I have a Acer 5475DG-7950

    @M1ST

    (1) let your notebook chill.. press "Read EC1"
    (2) stress your notebook! when the fan is going wild press "Read EC2"
    (3) press "disp. EC2-EC1" look at those values that increased by an amount similar to your CPU temperature gain.. if your CPU became 20 degrees (celcius) hotter you're looking for a value similar to 20 ;)

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    @all

does someone have experience with the 5951g (/8951g) model?

    i found out following:
    BIOS control: 0x55
    CPU temp: 0x58
    fan speed: 0x5C

the thing is there's only one value for the CPU temp whereas there are 4 cores..
additionally there doesn't seem to be a Fan Profile, only the fan speed is available..

and the biggest problem is I'm not able to find a value for the BIOS offset that allows me to change the Fan Speed. i tried all 256 values ;)

does anyone have a clue or an idea what to do next?
or does anyone have a 5951g or a similar model?

Hello everyone, i am new here, i've just registrated because of this thread :)
I have, an AS5750 with I3 and gt540 .. and i have some serious heat problems.. like this : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19261035/skyrimthrottling.jpg
this screen was taken after 2 hours of skyrim at low graphics and downclocked gpu (as you can see) the temps are "too damn high" :D And the throttling ruins the gameplay completely :(
So i've searched for something that can help, i found this thread, downloaded the program, i've wrote 0 after "Active Mode=" .. then started the program, but it can't read my temps, just like the guy above..
Here is a screen of my ACF : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19261035/ACF.jpg

So the question is: How can i do anything if ACF can't see my temps? And what is the solution? :D

ps. my english sucks, i know :)
    Thanks :)

    Hi all,

I'm with an Acer 5750G, and I want the fan be more active in the interval 60-80 C. When it boots (before bootloader shows up), it runs at max speed, but at the time it loads windows, fan get lower, and my games suffer.

So, I want to increase fan usage; this can be achieved manually set up fan speed, or decreasing thresold values (if I understand correctly).

Today, I discovered only that offset 180 indicates the temperature of the GPU.. nobody knows more?

    Thanks

I'm on 3830T. I'm fine with the fan noise, but when it's really very idle I want that when I'm on facebook and stuff like that..

I can't see the temps in this program. :( I have cpuid hardware monitor and the temps are 40-42. This model doesn't have a separate GPU. I can't find anything that looks like 40-41-42. If I do that doesn't change when stressed. Then the numbers mostly become less than at idle. The few that aren't those that look like between 0-7 I put them into the read and it turns out they have a random value that goes up to 60...... I can't find anything to lock on. I'm looking at dezimal style, done the idle/stress EC, took several more screenshots, comparing them in photoshop (turning layers on off etc).. But can't find anything useful. Any ideas?

Hi Folks, I got the aspire 8943G, the problem is that the 'at rest' temp is around 55 degree and only with Chrome/IE/SKYPE opened jump to 65. If I use the software with all the ini posted, the fan is quite but the laptop burn hot and temp jump over 100 then it switch off. Any though? Is 55 at rest normal? It is only 10 months old so I'm skeptical to open it to blow the fan...

is this a laptop ? if its a laptop clean the vents heatsink ect and then apply thermal paste to gpu and cpu . 55 is normal without the fan spinning at all , if the fan starts spinning at level 1 then the heat should be around 45 - 50 at idle. I just applied thermal paste a few hours ago and all my problems are solved. Btw aspire sucks I have a acer 8930 and the paste turned out like sh..ttt after 1-2 years. And 40 percent of its users have shut down issues and cooked gpus as well, its because they used cheap stuff with the cooling system and you dont have control over its fan without this tool. Im currently trying to figure out how to locate the offsets which trigger the fan speeds no success yet.

For thermal paste u can use any of the expensive ones, all will perform well, ı used thermal take tg-1 seems to do well atm. Most people suggest arctic silver but wasnt able to find it at the shack.

Btw if ur planning to use this tool use it with caution because it sais that it writes over the embedded controller which can cause problems if its not managed properly

    ..........

Ok been working on acer 8930g for hours now if anyones interested

Gpu sensor offset is : 159
Fan control offset is 153 ( control values start from 0 > and ends at 6) High byte is 32

the only thing I need is the bios control > offset ? Now how can I find that ? I need to turn it off because it takes over automatically.

no success I just cant find the offset which disables bios control thats the only downside for now and its not that easy. If your lucky you might find it though but theres too many variables for this atm.

You have to clean out the heat sink and apply new thermal paste first, does your fan spin at all ? 85 - 90 should be normal when gaming anyway, dont forget that room temperature also applies in this situation.

figuring out the heat gpu tmp offsets shouldn't be difficult you should be able to figure this out on your own. The problematic part is the bios offset

Hey guys, OP here. I'm currently having a lot of trouble with my laptop, trying to get it fixed. Unfortunately between that and other life commitments means I can't get on here often. But I'll try to help as often as I can.

However, with that said there's not much I can help. Each model probably has different registers and values so really you have to find them yourselves.

Is the tutorial I wrote too confusing/techie? If yes, I'll try to spend time rewriting it.

    Hmm, only 2 offsets?

There should be plenty more offsets that will have a change in value. Simply because the CPU cores + GPU temps are also stored in the offsets as well.

What sort of temps did your GPU get while idle/while under stress? Did you find numbers similar to that in the offsets?

i made pictures of the offsets, the first picture is where the CPU/GPU idle, and the second is where they're full load...the GPU temp reached 95 celsius under the GPU caps viewer test , the CPUs were 89-88

    Hey Equinox1991!
I have as 5750 with I3 and gt540.. when you first started the program the values on the top left side were good? Because mine writes :
    1 GPU 0°C (088)
    2 CPU 0°C (089)

I found that my gpu sensor has the same offset as yours (180) but i cant find the cpu.. i "read" them one by one.. none of them were good. I put the idle stats in EC1 but none of the values are equal, or close to the real value (56-54). What to do now?

trandoanhung1991 do you have any idea??

I can't find the cpu's temps either, only the GPU's. I thought the 179 offset is the CPU temp...but i'm not really sure, if it is then it's not accurate.
