    Is it VMware player version 1.0.9, as there are lots of products. If it is VMWare player 1.0.9, there a are newer versions available.

    Also, when you say you get an error running memtest, what is it, what does the error say.

    windows cannot check for memory problems
    a probem is preventing windows from checking problems during startup.try to check again by running the tools manually

    What VMWARE product is it. Have you tried an updated version.

    Sounds like it is probably VMWare player 1.0.9. This may not be ideal as VISTA support only came in at v2.0 I think (host and guest). Prior to v2.0 it might work but could be flaky. I assume you are using 1.0.9 as that is what your course has directed?
    I am also confused as in an earlier post (#24) you said you had run the VISTA memory check with no problems. Is it now the case that you cannot?

    yea i pressed smt during startup and they asked if i wanted to do a mem scan so i press enter then after bootup there was a little balloon at the tray sayin that there wasnt any errors but i cant run the mem diagnotsic tool frm the start menu
