I was just searching for overclocking threads and this popped up.

Can you tell me what knowing the PLL means for me, a 5930 owner?

I would like to learn more about CPU overclocking but I don't know what most of these things are or what they mean

I would really like some help :D

Hello everyone, I apologize for my English but I'm Italian and I do not speak English very well and I used google translate.
I have an acer aspire 5920g my pll should be ics9lprs365bglf stefsb but I can not change it because it is always the default clock.
I wanted to ask if you know of another method or if you can do a bios mod?

    Thanks again for your help.

What is the PLL for the Acer Aspire 8735G. On the PLL chip is written: TAIMAG IH-106-A 0938a

I dont think that this is PLL chip. Acording to schematics it should be SLG8SP513VTR.

Check this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/393027-pll-pinmod-overclocking-methods-examples.html#post4998927. You have there on first page examples of pll overclocking. SLG8SP513V should be what You looking for. From what I was reading no one was able sucefully overclock this PLL with Setfsb. After so called TME-unlock, every attemt to change clocks in Setfsb coused Hdd lock or black screen. You can read about that in Acer 1810T example. Then the only way in Your case would be FSLx - mod, forcing 333mhz fsb. But this, almost for sure, mean another mod with upping cpu Vcore, since with 333mhz T9600 would run with speed 3,5ghz and ther's the question if laptop cooling would handle such overclocked chip.
But there's one more posibility, maby your laptop came with different PLL eg ICS9LPRS365 since they look to be electrically interchanable - both use eg in Acer 1810T. It's known fact that producers in that same motherboard somethimes put clock generators from different manufactures. To check this run Setfsb Pll diagnosis and look on byte 7 bits 3,2,1,0: 0,1,1,0 - it's Silego PLL, 0,0,0,1 it's ICS PLL, most probably 9LPRS365 which after TME-unlock overclock without problems with Setfsb. That's long shot but worth try.
Yes like I said they may put different PLL chips. That's even better since ICS and RTL, from schematic from You, clock generators after TME-unlock are overclockable with Setfsb.
Oh and byte 7 bits 1,1,1,0 means RTM PLL.

When I run PLL diagnosis SetFSB is showing nothing. With ICS9LPRS365BGLF I can see all clocks.

That's mean that TME is eneble preventing overclocking. If You wanna oc vith Setfsb, You have to take apart laptop, grab solder iron and perform TME unlock mod. Ther'a few examples how to do this wit this specific PLL in thread linked by my before.

And there is no other option than soldering PINs? Is there not a trick to change the clocks?

    Edit: Maybe a custom BIOS?
