here is the link about the battery life and built in camera. the fix they offer up is not the microsoft patch but something a little more geek savy. i don't know if i feel comfortable performing it, but maybe someone out there with more knowledge then me could give it a whirl, or better yet maybe someone already has. it seems the fix works well, in the area of 60minutes more battery life.

Got it off the Acer Support Site dated 7/16/2006, here it is! The support site claims better smartcard usability and updated codes. Don't really know what all that means... Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I think i'll stick to 3315 as I didnt see any history file to show improvement on 3319.

I have the noise that shows up in Linux too. I'm not sure it was on the first weeks of use. A couple of friends have TM8202s too (same as TM8204 but cheaper with half the memory and 1.66 MHz CPU) and they don't have noticeable noise. I sent mine to service and they sent it back to the factory for a LCD screen replacement(suposedly since they told me so and the lid has all it's protective stickers again) yet the noise remains. I'm almost sure it is less noticeable but it hasn't gone completely.

Tomorrow i'll try switching hard drives with my friends' so if it's a software issue should appear on my friend's computers and disappear on mine when we alternate the drives.

I'll come back to tell you what happened.

I think it would be great if we had a poll on this to see the number of affected people and that maybe we should make a site devoted to this problem so we can put som pressure on Acer. I can provide hosting if you agree.

    Wish me luck.

Yep, got the problem with my Acer Aspire 5672 w/x1600.....definatly something to do with the connection with the monitor or motherboard.... also I have notices that if you put the monitor in 16 bit mode it almost clears it up.......

So now it looks like overall X1600 problem... Hmm... Why some (majority?) of you don't have it then?

They probably do, but just don't notice it/care about it enough to warrent further investigation.

IMO the problem is very easy to notice, once you know what to look at... I've discribed how to check it, so if someone says that he doesn't have it, he probably doesn't have it, right? Why someone, who doesn't have any connections with Acer or ATI, would lie about this problem?
