Because I could not find the dos system files to create a bootable usb with the HP utility.
So I followed the instructions here
http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/488205-acer-timelinex-3820tg-owners-lounge-info-benchmarks-tweaks-mods-upgrades-868.html#post7016499
What do you recommend?
I also notice that the modded bios is 2MB and the 'old' one on the crisis stick is 4MB.
That is odd, or is it?
Thanks,
Bartels

The crisis method is ONLY to be used in case of emergency.
You could easily have bricked your computer. So long as it's specifically the 7738G unlocked bios then it works since that's what I used. -
So, what method do you recommend?

Do you reckon I am cool to flash it this way?

@QuantumQubits
Sorry- no password removal help as per forum rules.
-
Oh sorry didn't know that,
But in the mean time i think i found a solution.
In the online service manual ( Acer Aspire 7738G | Acer Aspire 7535 Notebook Service Guide ) starting from chapter 2 is a whole
summary of the original bios.
Maybey someone could use it

hi guys, i've been reading through this forum for a couple of day's now.
I know i can't ask if anybody knows a backdoor password for the bios since i locked myself out a year ago...
But i still would like to know how to flash my phoenix bios 1.11 to a 1.13 or a 2.xxx.
I see many of you have tried it and it worked but everytime that i'm making the usb i insert the files that the download gives me and it keeps giving errors.
Any help? cheers

G-XtremE, Windows 8 - the best thing for this laptop) What drivers you would need:
- Video: take it from the official nvidia site
- Audio, Touchpad, Card Reader, Side Panel - take it from Acer Support Site ( choose 7735g model and then Windows 8. -
