Great find. What do you think about the 9300 GS pushing 1600 x 900 resolution?

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Probably no issues. -
So hard to keep track of posts, since there's a 3820TG thread, and this thread. This thread is basically a 3820TG thread, since noone's really paying attention to the other 2 models.
-
So... while I am waiting to buy a U33JC, the only thing that can change my mind is if a 3820TG were available in the US...
That hasn't happened yet, has it? pretty please? -
Lemmie play with it a little more, but so far, I'm very satisfied. Great battery life, even on the first charge, the keyboard looks/sounds/types great, runs quietly and with very normal heat. Of course, I've only been browsing the internet, but taking that into consideration, I'm very happy. Two issues stand out however, but they're to be expected. First, it loves fingerprints on the case/sides of the keyboard. Second, the screen is flexy, but that's not, at least to me, a true drawback. It's just the trade-off with a notebook this thin/light.
I'll put it through its paces tomorrow, post a better review then. Untill tomorrow night,, HUP HOLLAND HUP. -
Ya......what he said.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
That's what she said... -
Useless post. Immature too. Please refrain from poor humor. Give us some good jokes, instead!

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled across an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said, "OK. You released me from the lamp, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish!" The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?" The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible. Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete...how much steel!! No, think of another
wish." The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women....know how they feel inside and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment....know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say 'nothing'....know how to make them truly happy...."
The genie asked, "Do you want that bridge two lanes or four?" -
hAHAHAHAH that's a good one, dood! See, that's what good humor should be understood to be. Glad that we have anycolour on board.
thanks!
-
where can I order a 3820tg with the 5650?
-
If you live in the US, you can't.
-
I'm on the same boat since the U35jc and the U33jc has USB 3.0, but I'm still undecided. I think the chiclet style keyboards are much more appealing though. hmm
-
I'm only following this thread because of the Bronsky saga
Congrats Bronsky!! Can't wait to see what you think of it
-
Have you done any of your hardware installs yet.
I would love to see some numbers
-
Fitting the keyboard was difficult. The backlit model is a bit thicker than the original and needed to have its clip openings opened a bit and the tabs needed to be squared off. Took the better part of a day to do it carefully and repaint the tabs. Put the SSD in and did a clean install. Had to try 3 different methods of activation but finally did it. So now, I'll be running some tests, etc., on the stock model and getting ready to finish the mods. I have a nearby source of an OEM I7-620M for $299 and I am looking for a place to buy a BT wire cable so I can mod it to take power to the backlit keyboard. I have a pic of the keyboard in-place on the 3820TG thread. It's not lit yet. I will power it on when I replace the CPU. I would guess in a week or so, I will be done. The Acer is really beautiful.

I have half a mind to go pick up the 3820TG at staples but I know the second I do that Acer will announce a 3820TG with 5650 for US/Canada.
-
If you're not very concerned about 3d gaming and you want to save yourself $200, I'd say go for it!
-
i'd suggest going for the 3820t for $650, i just received mine today and even with the i3-350 it seems speedier than my xps m1730!
-
Same thought here. Although I am also tempted now to get a Sony Z, which has $100 discount at their retail outlets. Of course it's still 1k more than the timeline, lol...
-
I'd be more then happy to spend the extra $200. I have roughly a month before I can't wait any longer. So hopefully Acer releases it by then, if not, Staples model it is.
-
Where I live (UK), I can only get the Acer 3820TG with the i5 450M processor and 5740 card. How does this model compare, in terms of gaming performance, with the model that has the 5650 card? Anyone know when the 5650 model will be released in the UK?
Also, how do both models compare with the M11x? -
You mean the HD5470 of course.
The HD5470 is only a bit more powerful than the 320M integrated GPU found in the MBP. To be sure, it has some gaming capability but nothing near the HD5650. The 3820TG with its full powered CPU will outperform the M11x. The 5650GPU is a bit more powerful than the GT 335M but I suspect that the Nvidia will be able to overclock to the same levels as the ATI card.
No body knows "if" the 5650 will be released in the UK. There are not yet any 3820TGs at all in the US yet (except mine, of course
).

-
Thanks for the help Bronsky. Yes I did mean the 5470.
I will go to Singapore soon. What are anyones views on getting a laptop there? What would I do if something stops working back in the UK? -
You could be forced to ship it back to Singapore.

Well is there a guide to overclocking the i5-450m on the 4820TG?
The 3820TG uses the SetFSB program which doesn't support the 4820TG. -
I tried running that final fantasy benchmark from the owners thread with mine (staples model) and only got like 280 points compared with the 5650 guys getting like 2000 points. I guess newer games won't really be playable with the 5470.
-
Actually if the benchmark wasn't stuttering all the way for you, it should be fine I guess. According to Hendrickson (from the 3820 Owners' Lounge), the benchmark is not representative.
-
Is ClockGen fine to overclock the CPU?
-
Haha. How bout you go and buy it so that Acer can release a 3820TG for all of us (both Canada and US)? And then return it, citing hardware failure, and ask for supervisor to waive a restocking fee? Ya ya do it do it!
-
Clockgen is to old try the newest SetFSB version.
-
Does SetFSB support the 4820TG? (i5)
-
Try the clock generator "Asus G73JH".
I have only the 3820TG, but if you send me yor 4820TG for free, I will try it for you.
Try it
-
I have yet to order it so I will try it out at the end of this month and post instructions on how to do it if it works.
-
SetFSB doesn't seem to work on my 5820TG at least. Not like I'm going to open it to check the PLL anyway - it's hot enough at stock clocks.
-
Can you please do the following steps:
1) Open SetFSB
2) Click on Diagnosis
3) Chose "Pll Diagnosis" as Clock Gen
4) Click Get FSB
5) Click Capture
6) Add the image in the capture folder to your posting
Thanks. -
Here you go.
Fiddled round a bit, but I've not found the trick yet at least. Not like it matters since the CPU is reaching throttle temps even at stock speeds, so overclocking would be pretty pointless.Attached Files:

Our PLL is not the same. Acer seems to change the PLL between the models.
At moment are 3 different plls known.
Thanks for the image. -
So will we ever see US availability of the 3820tg w/ hd5650? :?
-
posted in the wrong thread
-
My 3820TG's batter icon shows 7+ hours when moused-over; I didn't really do a thorough run-down test though. This 7-hour+ life is gotten with Bluetooth off, minimum brightness and the volume level 1/2-way up and a corded mouse attached. I reckon if I upped the brightness by 1 or 2 notches, I'd still get 6+.
One thing which I did might have helped was to install BatteryCare. U could try it out.
One final thing, don't ever change the "Number of processors" in msconfig -> Boot -> Advance options. I had previously changed it to 2 processors thinking it will increase my Win 7 boot-up speed but I got my battery life halved..
Good luck & hope the above helps
-
I'll give the Batterycare a try and one of the first things I did was set my number of cores as you mentioned. I just reset it to default and did not notice any change. I'll update after I try doing a full discharge of the battery. Thanks
-
still no 5650 for USA? no more posts in this thread? where is bronsky lol ?
-
The number of cores are only important for the boot time.
Windows 7 does use only 1 core at default config to load windows.
If you set your cores to 4 it will at the boot time all 4 cores as good as it is possible. -
Bronsky is in the owner lounge. His 3820TG arrived for while.
-
Does anyone know if the i5/5650 model is on sale in China? I've got some folks heading up to Shanghai in a week, they'll probably be able to pick one up if they are available...
*Slowly getting more desperate by the minute*
EDIT: Nevermind. Thanks min2209

Hey guys,
Does anyone know anywhere in Europe or somewhere that's prepared to ship to Europe that has a CPU better that the i5-450? Like a faster i5 or the i7-620?
Thanks -
Computeruniverse.com had an I7-620M Il Diavolo model of the 4820TG (w/ HD5650 GPU). They will ship to anywhere in the EU, I believe.

@fscussel - I'm still around. Been working on my 13"er. Put a backlit keyboard on it this week. Probably upgrade the CPU to dual core I7 in the fall. -
@Bronsky,
Been a while since I've been online. How's the thirty eight twenty going? -
Just finished writing up the backlit KB mod. http://forum.notebookreview.com/6504731-post26.html I think I'm done taking it apart for a bit.
