I am still hoping to see a 6200mAh battery... 9-10 hours on battery alone would be sufficient for my use case.

wow 9 cell battery!!!
http://www.liliputing.com/2009/10/acer-to-launch-9-cell-12-hour-battery-for-timeline-laptops.html
wounder if it will stick out on the bottom, If they can fit the 9 cell into the 6 cell form factor, that would be amazing!!! -
-
@Jlbrightbill - I've got the dual core version (SU2300) and mine is spec'd out the same. (UM093E1, 10.8v, 4400mAh). Definitely curious if the UM09E36 is interchangeable with the stock part number.
-
any updates Jlbrightbill?
-
Just reporting quickly: receive the 5600 from CLB for my SU2300 (11.1v) last week (took only 10-12 days to MO).
The battery looks good (it does not touch teh screen ...). Some black marker have been applied where "made in xxx" and made for xxx" is written!
The battery program states that there is a 10 % wear on it (not an issue, my 4400 battery wears from 0% to 7% back and forth!)
Anyway: got 8 hours easy with it (I got 6 hours with no problem with the 4400).
I just gave it to my gf, so we will see how she uses it.
Now I am curious to see if the 5800 at 10.8v would be ok (am sure it will), but that would be nice for me (however i now have two 4400 that I carry wit me!)
S. -
thank you sbabolat for sharing the info, 10% wear out of the box seem little bit worrisome, did you get the wear reading after calibrating your battery using 3 full discharge cycle?
Also did you use RMClock battery info panel to find out who manufactured the battery? I am wondering if it is by a Sanyo, or similar size OEM manufacture. -
Still waiting on the battery, their tracking options are abysmal.
-
Okay, battery arrived today. Looks just like my 4400mAh battery, has the blue stickers in English and Chinese, 10.8v, 5800mAh, is model UM09E36, fits perfectly, and works. It shipped with about 38% charged, so I charged it up, and unplugged it once it was fulled charged. After a few discharge cycles, RMClock's battery guide is showing me between 8-11 hours remaining, depending on what I'm doing. This is with WiFi on, screen 4 notches up from lowest brightness, browsing the web or working with Office applications. Conservatively though, that's still 7-9 hours of usage. From real world usage, I started using my laptop for Excel/Word processing and internet usage for class at around 7:45PM. At 11:30, having used it constantly to write a paper / research stuff online, I was at still at 58% capacity remaining. 3:45 used up 42% of my battery, so that still puts me well over 7 hours total capacity.
Keep in mind I'm also using an X-25M in this system, which magnifies the effect of battery longevity, so results with a mechanical drive will be slightly less but still highly prominent.
Edit: RMClock battery info says it's model UM09E56. This supports my theory that this site just slaps stickers on the batteries before they leave the warehouse, my stickers says UM09E36. Either way it's compatible with the 1410 so I'm satisfied.

I am still doing some full cycle charge on the 5600, but so far, it gives me 8 hours (seems right after calculating from the 4400).
RM Clock on my 4400:
- manufacturer: SIMPLO
- 10.8 v when the sticker states 11.1
- UM09E71
RM Clock on the 5600 (from CLB):
- manufacturer: SIMPLO
- 11.2 v when stickers states 11.1
- UM09E70
interesting that the manufacturer are the same... maybe the 5600 from CLB are the one shipped with the 1810 in Europe (the one with the 5600 battery)? - given the same manufacturer and the fact that they put some marker on the name and place! -
anyone have any update on their battery purchase? How did the battery hold up after few cycle of usage? wear level?
-
Still holding up well, wear level is same as I got it (around 1%), fantastic battery life.
-
can you give some estimate number of hour you got with your 4400mAh Battery vs your 5800mAh battery? Also is the battery tight fit, any rattles or rubbing against the screen like someone else reported back in page 2?
-
Physical fit is perfect. I get between 8-9 hours of actual real usage with this battery. I was getting just over 6 before.
-
looks like you have a winner on your hand Jlbrightbill, I am very tempted to get one and also a bluetooth 2.1+EDR module. But i am going to give it a little bit more time, to see if the mythical 9 cell will come out or not, or to wait till the 5800mAh to drop below $70, what ever come first.
-
(with the 5600, I get just a little over 8 - get a little over 6 with the 4400 - everything is consistent).
-
Anybody else find the 5600mAh or higher battery anywhere besides CLB? They're sold out at the moment.
I don't like the idea of the 5200 one on eBay even though they claim the same model number as the one on CLB. -
someone mention about the battery for acer one 751 will stops half way. How about manually grind out the groove, will it works? Just a thought.
-
Don't know if anyone still follows this thread.
Here's what I come across and it claims UM09A75 will works in 1410/1810.
http://www.notebook-battery.com.au/goods.php?pid=1452 -
The link from ml320 didn't work for me - maybe their server is just down. However, I also managed to find this place:
http://www.laptop-battery-shop.com/acer-um09e36-111v-5600mah-batteries-p-2498.html
A bit more expensive, but they claim to have 99 in stock! -
My 1410 came with a UM09E31 (4400mAh). Here's a link to the same model battery at 5600mAh for $79.99 (at least that's today's price). They've got 5600, 4400 and 5800 UM09E31 batteries.
http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/laptop-battery/acer-um09e31.htm
When I try to order one, I get a pop-up saying "Out of Stock" for all of them.
Looks like the prices are starting to come down a bit. I just wish they could keep them in stock. My original battery is still working fine so I'll wait a while before ordering the 5600 (if they ever get any more to sell).
These Li-ion batteries begin aging and losing charge capacity as soon as they're manufactured. So it makes no sense to get one now unless you really need and will use it right away. If you just store it on a shelf for a few years it'll be useless when you go to use/charge it. -
Hi,
I know this is not the subject but was wondering (i posted this request as post by itself, but there are too many message and am afraid no one will see it - at least here, we are all using teh same machine:
My girlfriend has an acer as1410. Works nice, until she dropped coffee where the mouse pad is ....
I opened it up: works well, except the left click. I cleaned up the coffee that was stagnant on the circuitry and cabling, but left click still does not want to register. Even when an external mouse is plugged in (left click doesn't work!).
I was wondering if anyone know the FRU part number for the mouse click, as well as the cable that goes with it - or if anyone has parts for the AS1410 (or 1810T or its gateway equivalent)?
That would be great and could then use the AS as an extra one
S. -
sbabloat, if you plug in an external mouse, and the external mouse's left click also doesn't register, i most likely mean that the coffee fry something on the motherboard. If your 1410's motherboard is fried, there is very little you can do, at that point maybe the best choice is to take the computer apart and sell it for parts on ebay.
-
FWIW, here's the best one I found so far. http://www.battery-notebook.info/look.php Just ordered it. Will see how it goes. The best part is the 7800mAH. -
ml320 can you link directly to the 7800mah battery, I can't seem to find it on the site.
-
Just search UM09E36 when u get to that site.
-
Ok i see it, but it look like it is going to stick out on the bottom, please give us your impression when you get the battery ml320, especially on amount of time you get per full charge, and if possible can you post of a pic of how the battery look when plug-in to the laptop.
Thx. -
Just hoping that someone would already have a part somewhere and I could try. What is weird, is that the coffee "satin" was only on the mouse click area, and on the case - nowhere else. -
ml320: I'm also very interested to see how the battery you ordered works out. We await your report!
Thanks. -
Here it goes,
It's a UM09A75 battery, IT WON'T WORK WITHOUT HARDWARE MOD.
Now that I've got it out of the way. The slots on both side of the battery is too shallow & the battery bottom out before it can reach the connector end. What I did was filed off the plastic slots on both side of my 1410. After that I can manually drop the battery in the opening and slide forward to engage with the connector.
With the side slot filed off, the original battery will become lose slightly in the housing but I put some rub pad on the sides of the battery and all is good.
At this point I am having trouble to see the battery size, info.... batterycur, Win 7 , 1810tray..none of them tell me any info about the battery. I am still checking the charge time & usable hours since I just received it yesterday. I plug it in AC almost 10+ hrs now but the charging light is still steady orange, haven't turn blue yet. I just wonder will it ever or does it required some kind of software mod. Battery stick out towards the bottom which make the notebook raised about 3/4" at the back. Will take pics whenever I have a chance. As for the battery, u can easily pick one up here in States and it's much cheaper. I wish I did since I can get one with white color which match my 1410. -
What about this one - 12 cells, 10400 mAh: http://cgi.ebay.com/ACER-Aspire-AS1...ies?hash=item335b7e4ae4&afsrc=1#ht_3536wt_964 ?
Does anyone have any reference about this kind of battery (size, how it fits, etc)? -
I hope you guys aren't fully discharging these Li-Ion batteries. Li-Ion batteries like to be kept topped off unlike NiMH and Ni-Cad batteries which should be fully discharged once in awhile.
If you fully discharge Li-Ion batteries regularly, copper shunts will begin forming in the cells which will cause the battery to start shorting itself.
Learned this in chemistry in college after doing some experiments and verifying it.
Anyway, are these batteries from eBay safe to use? Or is the quality cheap? -
-
-
I have found another online store that claim to have the 6 cell 5600mAh battery for our laptop (1810, 1410), but i don't know if the company is legit, anyone care to do some digging into the company?
http://www.it-battery.com/original-battery-for-acer-um09e70-aspire-1410-1810t-5600mah-p-2308.html -
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-21.htm
Looks like you are correct. But they also seem to recommend (elsewhere on the site) a full discharge/recharge every so often to maintain full capacity.
What do you think? Is it a good idea or not to do a full discharge/recharge every couple of months? -
I don't recommend discharging them at all. Keeping the cells empty / discharged is part of what causes the copper to start forming.
I recommend charging them every night at least. It's best to keep Li-Ions topped off.
-
@Jlbrightbill & sbabolat - what kind of configurations are you running to get that much life out of the battery?
-
FYI
Lithium Ion /Polymer chemistry based cells are born with a c 3-5 year life FROM MANUFACTURE based on deterioration of the compounds involved.
High temperatures and storage at full charge will reduce this life. (i.e. sitting in your laptop at 100% charge next to the hot bits)
Low temperatures and storage at c 40% charge (to allow safe self discharge) will increase the life.
Storage when empty and subsequent self discharge to below 'empty' will cause the battery pack's automatic protection mechanisms to 'permanently' shut it down. Overriding this safety mechanism is not sensible or advised
Nothing will stop the deterioration over time though, but quality cells do seem to last longer than cheap ones
A largely separate wear out mechanism will deteriorate the cells after a few hundred cycles - dependent on discharge rate, depth etc. unlike ni Cad or NiMH cells there is no benefit real or imagined to the cells in cycling regularly.
From this we can see:
Living in a laptop is a Li-Ion cells nightmare
Deep discharging is potentially the first step on a harmful process but not bad in itself (and it may improve battery meter accuracy).
time spent cycling, cosseting, refrigerating, obsessing and generally worshiping you battery is probably better spent looking for where you will get a replacement WHEN you need it.
Don't buy a spare when you buy the laptop unless you actually need 2 batteries on a daily basis. The unused spare will also die in months if put into use after the first dies.
Don't buy cheap batteries - many have poor or old production cells which are cheap to acquire for obvious reasons.
And now you know why your new battery is called a consumable and warranted for 3 months ! -
Someone is going to ask why manufacturers don't take steps to improve living conditions for laptop batteries in 'deskbound' use.
I think the answer can be quickly assembled from the words
Short warranty
Pressure to buy original replacements esp during Laptop warranty period
300 - 400% mark-up compared to pricing at initial production run
Can make more money on replacement /extra battery and adapter than on the whole original system.
Go figure -
@BruBoo -- Thanks for the info.
I'm wondering about a reputable after-market dealer. I certainly don't want to pay premium price by buying my replacement (when the time comes) from Acer (much too expensive). But also, I don't want to get ripped off by buying a battery with old cell technology, wrong fit into the slot, etc.
I hope this thread stays alive so those of us with 1410s and 1810s can find good batteries at a good price. I don't want to be writing a bad review about my experience with a battery supplier and the crappy battery they sold me that won't fit or won't charge properly.
Recommendations anyone? -
5600mAh version is back in stock! Just got word from them that they got a shipment in. Unfortunately, I already ordered one from another place that was a bit more expensive, and it's already been shipped. Oh well, maybe somebody else can benefit. -
Hi,
I just bought an Aspire 1410-232G32n, and the 4400mAh battery labeled UM09E51 is rated at 10.8V.
I wonder if anybody tried the 5800mAh battery from http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/laptop-battery/acer-um09e51.htm
Anyone care to share your experience? Thanks in advance. -
5600mAh * 11.1v = 62160mWh
5800mAh * 10.8v = 62640mWh
So for 12% difference in cost, you only getting 0.8% battery capacity improvement. So unless you have money to burn, 5600mAh version is much better deal. -
Love it. 0.8% +/- at least 2 % -
Oh I see. Pardon my ignorance, my battery is rated at 10.8V, will there be any problems if I buy the 11.1V battery?
-
-
I'm selling my 4400 mAh battery in the BST forum since I don't need it anymore. -
win7 + battery tray + fan soft.
no fancy graphic, wifi on and lights eirger in 3rd or 2d level (from teh bottom)
That is it. Only uses word, Onenote and Seamonkey for the net.
Batery is goung down now, but still have 5.30 to 6
I do have a question - unrelated to the battery:
My gf put coffee on her pc. I bought a new one, and swapped the hdd - swapped with same model .
Now, she must have put pressure on the screen, as she has some bars on the left. She said it is fine, but I was wondering if I could swap again, but this time with the gateway model:
Gateway EC1805u
Same stuff, except that it is a 64 bit system. Does it matter if I only swap the hdd ? She only uses the osx (I know, I know!) side - i only boot vista myself every now and then to check (and the AS1410 she has now is a 32 bit system)
They are cheap (around 350) and want to get one before they go ... Battery is given at 7hours... but it is 64 bits (also thinking for myself to swap and have a 32 bit system on win 7).
Any idea ? Can I do it ? -
This is with WiFi on, screen 4 notches up from lowest brightness, browsing the web or working with Office applications. Conservatively though, that's still 7-9 hours of usage.
