did you mean you installed the Vista version on your XP? I experienced it so but finally I have fixed it. I suggest you to do these actions:
    1. download all Acer Empowering Technology Components for XP
    2. Uninstall all Acer Empowering Technology Components on your system
    3. Open Regedit, Find "Empowering", I am sorry i didnt take any screenshot of this one, but you must find it in "Uninstall bla-bla" directory (you see that on the right panel of regedit application is a dir tree). All information about uninstallation of Acer Empowering technology is in that directory. You DELETE That DIR (Of course, please backup your registry first).
    4. Try installing the correct version of the framework, if it is not success, try deleting all Acer Empowering directory on your system.

I hope this can help you.
