hey bigspin, can you please run ATItool's artifact scan? I have tested my system and at default 475/400 everything is OK
then I have been playing games for a long hours with 610/450 without problems, but ATItool says that errors appear every 5-15minutes
It seems that I can take memory upto 500 without stability problems (haven't tested properly so far) but ATItool shows errors even when I have 610/400 !
I thought that core clock doesn't affect memory errors?!
well I'm confused, I know that I can play at 610/450 as long as I want, but ATItool says it's not working properly - should I downclock or just look for stability problems and visible artifacts like usual???

ATITool is buggy  Don't trust it.Run 3DMark tests(SM2.0 & SM 3.0 all tests) Repeat at least 12 times each test.If it works perfectly don't worry about ATITool thing. :D

BTW every time when i reach GPU 600 or Memory 480 ATItool show artifacts. So I flash my bios to 572/472 so test your system with 580/474 and tell us your result

Update your Audio drivers from realtek site
They release new driver today that enable full 2.1 audio output (which mean your mini-subwoofer will work perfectly)

Do you mind explain me where or how to enable the 2.1 sound because i still can't choose anything else exept STEREO sound in xp sound properties and in the Realtek panel stereo is auto-choosen and i can't change it (grayed out).

As for the sound, the mini-sub woofer works but it still seems that it mainly works with sounds that come from the right speaker like it is directly connected to it.

So as for me i see no change from 1.79 driver to 1.81

2.1 Output works well with XP & fix only for the Vista.(Still you can't change output mode(Stereo) ,but mini-sub output is bit improved)

New Realtek High Definition Audio Driver v1.81 Available

anyway still no change for me. Mini-sub still gets sound mainly from sounds come from the right speaker. It does work though but it doesn't get sound from both speakers (as it is getting stereo sound) but if i put sound output to left speaker only the mini-sub is hardly working.

I was sadly expecting a way to trully enable 2.1 in vista and be able to alter even the mini-sub volume while the main speakers still play at full. Or even better change the frequency range it is working. I guess i dream a lot.

Anyway mate really thanks for your help. I have been around for a long time and this forum have been a great (if not an absolute) tool/help for me.

I am not going back to xp since i am quite happy now with vista (at least after the format and none i mean none of the programs Acer gets bundle with this lappy). Right now i am testing Intel Turbo Memory i just bought and installed for 27 dollars.

i'd be amazed if ACER has released a BIOS that has turned the fan speed over to the user... from all my research ACER fans are set to turn on and off at predetermined temps, and all previous BIOS updates for other models i've checked have only modified the temps at which the fans are turned on or off.

i hate this feature of ACER laptops.. i wish there was a way to override these settings easily, but to my knowledge NOBODY has had ANY success with controling fan speeds without changing the info inside the BIOS.... which is a tall order even for someone well versed in machine language.
