I found these 3 Wifi adapters for the m14x, now I bought mine from Costco (it was 300$ cheaper at the time), and it didn't come with Bluetooh and it came with the Wifi 1000.

    Anyways I came across these:

    Bigfoot networks Killer Wireless-N 1103
    Bigfoot networks Killer Wireless-N 1103 | eBay

    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230
Canada Computers | Networking | Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230, PCIe Half Mini Card Wireless Adapter w/ Bluetooth - 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, up to 300Mbps, Dual Band, WiDi support (62230ANHMW)

    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
Canada Computers | Networking | Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, PCIe Half Mini Card Wireless Adapter - 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, up to 450 Mbps, Dual-Band, WiDi support (633ANHMW)

My Router is 300 Mbps, but ofc having a 450 Mbps wouldn't hurt for the future.

I'm thinking with the 6230 I kill 2 birds with 1 stone, Bluetooth and Wifi.

Either way I'm sure that any of these will do better than this crappy 1000 card....sometimes i get 4 bars and I'm 6 ft away...

Anyways the reason why I added the Killer one was is there really a difference? Does it help anything, I have heard that it can take some stress off the cpu, but not sure!

And I'm sure all these are m14x compatible? :)

    Thank You!

I asked this as well and I was simply told Bigfoot. Didn't really get an explanation, don't know if you will either (not from me anyways, since I still don't know :s) but everyone just said go for the Bigfoot, something about voodoo magic or something.

The voodoo just seems like an overpriced Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, which is why I asked :p

I made a decision anyways I'll go for the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230, comes with Bluetooth and its much better than this crappy 1000 Wifi card.

I have the 6250, which i had put in aftermarket. It works fine, my intel 1000 was losing connection. The 6250 hasn't failed me. Personally I wouldn't splurge on a killer NIC, all you need is a card that works. If you get the 6300, you will have to route an extra antenna since the m14x only has 2 antennaes (as far as I know), which limits it to 300mbps, adding an antennae would add an extra 150mbps. If you need bluetooth then yeah, the 6230 would be fine.

Thanks for the find! Unfortunately it's also 4 times more expensive than the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230, and it doesn't come with bluetooth. I think i'm going to stick to the 6230!

Great Benchmarks though, exactly what I needed!

Got my m14x today, had it ordered with Intel® Wireless LAN 6205 card.
And must I say, its a crap card. (41Mbit/sec transfer speed).
WLAN AP: Cisco / Linksys E4200 450Mbps dual band. (even tho 450Mpbs is dream on.)

Don't really do wonders for my 70Mbit internet line.

So I took the old card of my previous laptop, Intel Advanced-N 6230 Centrino, and replaced. And speeds are up to 150Mbit/sec (fast test with windows file transfer). That is even without optimizing drivers and running TCP optimizer.

The old 6205 card is a shame to ship with any computer. Don't waste your money "upgrading" to it.

PS: ebay has the 6230 cards pretty cheap.

OMG It makes a huge difference...I'm sorry but .....this took me by suprise!

Gametrailers can now be watched in HD...yes thats sad to hear. Youtube no longer has that stupid loading speed circle and now MW3 runs at full 5 bars...no longer 2 or 3...

! And L4d2 is now 50-60 ping compared to 80-100!

Either this is a conicidence or Intel should Stop making the 1000...

    Best 25$ I've ever spent!

All this running at 5 GHZ N (which didn't work with the 1000)

Cool! i had a 6205 and it sucked. Forget slow data rates, it just wasn't reliable and I had a hard time when going to a new wifi spot and trying to get connected. IT would take forever, or a reboot, and had some instabilities.

I used to live in a high rise apt building with so many signals the 6205 would drop out every half hour and I had to disable and re-enable the adapter to get it to connect again. I moved to a quieter area eventually and that problem went away. However I had had enough and splurged on the 1103. Works great! Stable 300 mbps connection when the 6205 was getting max 140 mbps, which wasn't a big deal for my 30 mbps internet connection, but I appreciate the stability and boost for my home network.

    Cheers,
    Mike
