I think there should be a setting in the BIOS that controls whether the trackpad light fades or stays constantly lit.

Right click the Alien head icon in the system tray, the fade settings/times are there.

Luis, I think you're referring to the Enable Inactivity Timer settings. That turns off all lighting after a set interval and has nothing to do with the track pad's time out.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what it is you're referring to.

On a side note, is there a way to turn off the Power LED? I'm gonna guess no.

    You're right, my mistake.

I've been looking for ways to enable/disable but so far I've found no way to do it. When did it stop fading?

You could try to do a power drain (remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds then reconnect and try to turn it on), if it doesn't work try to re-install both the Alienware Command Center and the Touchpad driver.

Let us know how it goes

Well, there is a kind of a way. Turn off all FX via the function key. I wonder if there is a color code in the theme file that I can change...

This happened to me this morning here at work too. It stayed lit up for about 20 minutes, but I couldn't reboot at the time. Then it simply started working again on its own. Not sure what caused it to happen in the first place, but will be watching for it again.

    Grrrr
