    Hi there:

I'm the owner of an Alienware M14XR2 (no warranty left) that, out of the blue, started to refuse turning on. Everytime I pressed the power button, the screen would remain black and the computer would beep 1 time, then pause a few seconds, then beep again (over and over).

Please note the laptop will turn on successfully only 1 time out of 25 or so... According to DELL, this might be a motherboard failure: Alienware Systems: My computer shows no image, is beeping or the indicator lights are blinking (No POST / Codes Table) | Dell US.

I (BIG MISTAKE) went to a Tech Store and told them I suspected the problem to be a motherboard failure. 2 weeks later, it turns out they were unable to fix my computer. Not only did they fail to fix it, they also destroyed 1 RAM module (laptop will do the 4 beeps code unless I remove one of the sticks, then it will start doing the 1 beep code). They also:

    1) Destroyed the CD drive by glueing the ribbon to the drive. See: imgur: the simple image sharer
    2) Failed to connect all the cables? Not sure about this: Hi, reddit - Imgur

Of course, they refuse to take responsibility and I don't have the energy nor the time to go to a small claims court or the BBB. I can take my losses for the destroyed RAM module and the broken CD drive.

    My questions, thus, are:

    1) IF my computer turns out 1 time out of 25 (LOL) does this mean there is some hope for the motherboard? Or do I really need to get a brand new MoBo? DELL wants to charge me about 500 USD or so...
    2) Is the CD drive royally screwed? They glued it and now the pins do not fit into the connector. Apparently they lost the "plastic flex"

    Thanks!

The DVD ribbon was glued to the pins? I have very high doubts the pins/port have any chance of being useful. I'm sure the DVD drive is fine, but the ribbon and pins don't seem salvageable.
The only thing I can think of doing is performing a power drain and removing the CMOS battery before getting a new mobo. If it can turn on for 4% of the time, there is a chance to fix the computer yourself.
You can buy mobos off of ebay. Like this one. And plenty more.

That looks like a great option. Motherboards on eBay are easily returnable in case they aren't working as intended.
