Latest bios A14 and yep the nvidia driver u mentioned. Nothing else.
I believe this driver accidentally fixed the throttle. Guess i should stick with this driver, at least theres no annoying throttle.

OMG so there's a fix in the form of a bug from Nvidia's latest driver?

Haha, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. This is one bug I can definitely live with. The only issue now is no more updating drivers when they decide to patch it. Does this solve throttling with CPU temps when turbo-boost is enabled as well?

Almost a year later and the closest the m14x r2 community comes to a mainstream fix is in the form of a driver bug from nvidia. Who would have guessed it? haha.
Dell, this is your chance to capitalise on a final solution!

Yep :p exactly lol. it shouldnt throttle with the cpu turbo on, that's a different thing. i'll try it out but i highly doubt itll cause it to throttle. the only downside to this is no turboboost (so clock only goes to 745 mhz) and if newer drivers comeout we may be unable to update without it throttling.

I don't own one, but I promoted it on IdeaStorm for the benefit of everyone that does. Anyone that owns one and has not taken a moment to promote the fix should be ashamed of their self. ;)

What difference is there with no turbo boost on?

the card will not dynamically go up to 835 mhz, instead it will stay at 745 mhz. however you can use an unlocked bios to get around this. im using an unlocked bios with an overclock on the card of about 1100 mhz. i notice at least 5-10 fps more than with the stock clock on any given game,

i just dont get the lack of communication. What is SO hard about letting your customers know what you're doing to fix an issue? This is getting ridiculous.

    hi guys

I am not very good with computers yet and I bought a Mx14R2 and it looks like I did a mistake because I cant play games like far cry 3, planet side 2, medal of honor warfighter (even @ the lowest settings).. Is it because of this issue you guys are talking about or this mx14r2 is just not good ? I bought the big model with the i7-3740QM and the Geforce GT 650M. ( I dint overclock anything)

Are you sure the apps you use are whitelisted to use the 650m? they might be using the intel gpu

Looking back at the latest ideastorm comment is really really starting to p!ss me off. The fact that it's taken this long and they haven't even found a machine to test, is UNACCEPTABLE on every level. I can't believe it. Normally, comments wouldn't phase me. But this is a sham. A complete WASTE OF TIME. With BS people involved on a professional standard. Argh, Alienware. NEVER again.

I've never had a problem and I play games without a cooler. Laptop stays nice and frosty.

That's great for you but you have not contributed to the throttling discussion. Play an intensive game and measure your temps and clocks and get back to us ;).
