Could I just know what your Windows Experience Index rating is? Mine on the R1 is a 5.9 (Used to be 6.9, but some some reason Aero performance always drops)

If you're worried about the Aero performance dropping it might be because the discrete gpu is not being used. I'm not sure though.

Hey guys,
How did you manage to get more than 7.7 for RAM ?
I've run the test a couple of times and it fluctuates between 7.6 and 7.7.
How much memory do you have ?
My score:
CPU 7.6
RAM 7.6
Aero 7.2
GPU 7.2 (overclocked)

@luke HyperX PnP 1866mhz ram gives you 7.9 , 1600mhz gives 7.8 I think.

OK now I understand.
But your score is due to the higher performance of the HyperX. It's still working at 1600 MHz as the new Core i7-3xxxQM support up to 1600 MHz. -
This is exactly what mine is. R2 with 1GB vram and I upgraded the memory myself to 16gb corsair. Added a 64GB SSD card for the OS, and a 750 GB Momentus for the storage drive. Removed the stock 500GB drive and am using it for image backup. Processor is first I7 on the upgrade list..3.2Ghz.

Im thinking about replacing my 500gb drive with a 750 momentus xt as well! I never thought about using the 500gb drive as a backup lol, thanks!
Are you pleased with the momentus? I may order one this week. -
Yes so far I'm very pleased with the Momentus. It was a little hard to see the 32 GB hybrid in it actually work because the only thing I have on it is games, but I'm starting to see the intelligent cache features actually working now...diablo 3 loads faster each time I start it, and loading stutters have all but disappeared. It really does work.

mine is running 1866mhz , because its pnp. You can tweak it up to 2133mhz OC it , but not necessary , this works with i7 2nd generation too.

Thats my just unboxed Alienware M14x R2.
The specc are as following:
Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.6GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M
6144 MB (1 x 2 048 + 1 x 4 096) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
500 GB Seriel ATA-harddisk (7.200 omdr./min.)
Only a few cheap upgrades, I know, but why am I getting a 5,5 in graphics?
Is it because it has measured my Intel and not the 650? If thats the case how do I make it do otherwise?

It must be because it is actually using the Intel one to test it. Here is a link for you to better understand your computer's technology. -
Thanks - That cleared it up for me!!

The hdd performance I can understand, since I'm running an older Intel 160Gb SSD. But what's up with my graphics performance? Currently I have the 306.02 drivers from Nvidia and I selected the clean install option which should have removed any previous versions.
Mind you, there is one explanation however I don't know if I'm right.
This Intel 160Gb SSD was moved through 4 laptops WITHOUT a Win7 reinstall. Basically take it out of the previous laptop, plug it into the new laptop, delete the old drivers and install the new drivers. It's been in a G53SW (SB + Nvidia), NP8130 (SB + Nvidia), 8530p (C2D + ATI) and now the M14xR2 (IB + Nvidia).
I really should install Win7 from scratch again, but I have too much software configured and the system is still rock solid. Except of course for the low graphics performance numbers...

I just did a fresh install and my NVidia graphics wei ratings are still 6.8 and 6.8 on driver 306.02. Those of you who get 7.2 and 7.2, what drivers are you running?
Can you guys PLEASE run the Windows Experience Index test again and post some results? I have no idea why mine are so much lower. I can only guess that a) something is wrong with my M14xR2 or b) Microsoft changed the scale very recently. -
Bump. Can you guys please run your wei again with nvidia's new drivers? I need to find out why my results are so low.

I have updated to 306.02 and these are my res:
CPU: 7.6
RAM: 7.7
Aero: 6.8
GPU: 6.8
Disk: 5.9
This is odd, I used to have:
CPU: 7.7
RAM: 7.9
Aero: 7.1
GPU: 7.1
Disk: 5.9
So I don't know what I might doing wrong.
I haven't notice any difference in gaming though. -
This is my wei result with 306.23 driver
CPU: 7.6
RAM: 7.8
Aero: 6.8
GPU: 6.8
Disk: 7.9 -
Same as abec
CPU: 7.6
RAM: 7.8
Aero: 6.8
GPU: 6.8
Disk: 7.9 -
So how exactly do we get a 7+ score on the aero and force the gt 650m since i see a few users get 5.5 on the aero and most get 7.2.
The AW rep on page 2 of this thread tried explaining but all he did was give a link on how optimus works which most of us already knew.
So again why not tell us how exactly to get 7.2 score on our aero.
Thanks -
Just wanted to share Windows 8 Pro with Media Center - Day 1 Results:
CPU: 7.8
RAM: 8.1
Aero: 7.0
GPU: 7.0
HDD: 8.1
No overclocking/tweaking - so believe there is some minor room for improvement.
PS - Just save the pic to desktop if you want to enlarge it. -
Running 306.97, updated to these out of the box without running WEI before.
CPU: 7.4
RAM: 7.7
Aero: 7.2
GPU: 7.2
HDD: 5.9 -
Sorry - I'm new to the forums - however all I did was connect my Alienware M14xR2 to an external monitor and close my lid (via the DisplayPort) so my GPU ran on the external monitor.
I suppose you could disable Optimus/your Intel Integrated Chipset however I would rather not do that considering all the power benefits even one does game.
Hope to that helps!

Ok,
How did you get 7.9 for the RAM?

With the new NVIDIA drivers (v. 314.22) with the GPU overclocked via MSI Afterburner (+135 core, +525 memory, which is stable), I'm getting 7.3 on graphics and gaming graphics.
