Bought the Alienware MX14 R2 less than 2 years ago. 1 year warranty expired 6 months ago. Now there is no POST beeping. Alienware wants $435 to fix the no-post beeping (1 beep). $435 includes fixing, shipping to/fro and 90 day guarantee on the problem fixed. We were told by Alienware that we cannot purchase warranty anymore.
Question: should we fix the problem with Alienware for $435? Is it normal to have this problem in less than 2 years? Thank you.

Any electronic component can fail after some time. We recommend to extend the warranty at the time of purchase for your investment to be covered for the longest time possible. If you did not upgrade the warranty before the issue happened then you won't be able to extend it until the unit is fixed, moreover if your machine has already reached the EOL period (depends on the region and type of machine) you won't be able to renew the warranty at all.
What you can do is to look for the part online If you find it cheaper, you can take the machine to a local store and have it repaired there or repair it yourself. However, we recommend to take the service that we provide because it's done by certified Alienware technicians.
