    Alienware charging $20 to personalized nameplate?

    Kind of a moot point, but i noticed it added $20 into the cart.

    I just got an m11x and it was included in the price

    Is this new for alienware to charge for this? Or did I just get a freebie on the m11x?

    This is probably answered but I couldn't find it, why you can't have nameplate in the UK? thread to Nameplate National Security? Maybe the Queen has an AW and she wants to be the only one?



    On topic I checked my order and Nameplate was free on the m17x-R3.

    Wow! It is. They don't even list the cost...but I configured my same system without doing the custom nameplate and it is indeed $20 cheaper.

    I think I will call them after delivery and dispute the charge. Can't hurt.

    I just order one and the guy on the phone asked me if I wanted a custom nameplate, I said "yeah, just put m14x on it" he didn't say anything about any additional cost for getting one :( I just got a total quote, sounded good and I placed an order. Oh well, he did put that sweet farmers discount on it, so I guess I'm ok with it.

    I've heard other users say this, so I tried testing it out. Its true.. look at the pictures. Just start an m14x customization and go to nameplay, type something in, and preview it. Itll add it to your cart for 20$

    It didn't charge me on the M11x I got like a week ago (and still doesn't for that system) but my M11x is screwed up and I'm thinking about trading up to an M14x instead of getting a replacement, and yeah, it definitely charges you an extra $20 for the nameplate.

    But whatever, it's such a awesome feature that I'd pay $30. More laptops should have cutesy nameplates! Out of curiosity, is the nameplate bigger on an M14x than an M11x?

    The nameplate screen will always show up. If you write nothing in it, they won't charge you the extra fee, if you do write something on it, you'll get the fee.

    Also, if you don't fill in anything, it will default to M14X, and you won't get charged. I didn't fill mine out so it'll be easier to sell when I'm sick of it :)

    I didnt get mine with my name on it for some reason?? Should I call dell and have them send me one with my name like I asked?? Or should I leave it as is so if I sell it in 3-4 years it will look better?

    On ebay i've seen people straight out say that they were removing the customized nameplate because they put their name on it. didn't seem to sway potential buyers.... If you requested it during configuration, I would go ahead and call and be like '?' :p

    I think it is charged the US customers only, because when I order the M14x here in NZ, I didnt get any extra charge for the nameplate.

    But some suggest that in NZ, the nameplate extra charge is already include in the price, whether I choose to have a custom plate or not, it is already in the price.
