Hi guys, I just recently took apart everything in my alienware m14x to clean out my heatsink ( There was a ton of dust inside) . I am 100% certain that I did everything in this tutorial correctly:

Now my laptop won't turn on at all. I hit the alien head and absolutely nothing happens. I've tried rebuilding it from scratch 3 times but it still won't turn on. I'm planning to take it to a service repair centre on wednesday but they said they would charge me $200 for an hour. Any advice on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

That's too much for a repair. I'm sure you can get more by selling it on eBay for parts. Did you try pressing the power button without the power button assembly?

Did you wear anti-static wristband or followed any anti-static recommendations?

I had the same issue some time ago on my m14x R2. It was a cable that was plugged (at least that's what I though), I re-plugged it and it turned on. In the worst case you will need to replace the main board.

    There are a few possibilities:
    1. The Power button board cable isn't connected correctly (check both ends as it can come loose at the power button board end)
    2. You killed the motherboard with static discharge
    3. Some other cable is not connected correctly and is shorting the motherboard out
    4. The ribbon cable for the power button board is damaged - examine the end and ensure there are no ripped up tracks - if there are you have found the culprit.
    5. There are bent pins or another damaged ribbon cable somewhere which is causing a short - check all ribbon cables and pins on all the motherboard connections for damage .

    6. Memory now at fault remove and / or disconnect SODIMM(s) HDD/SSD, these can accessed without major disassembly :)
    7. CPU is not correctly inserted / bent pins
