I have a question about the tactx keyboard and I'm wondering if anyone here would know. I have an m14x R2 and I'm considering getting an Alienware TactX keyboard to go with it. Now I know that the TactX takes two USB ports to power everything, but does this mean that both cords need to be plugged into the computer, or could one be in the computer and the other one be in a power source?

Basically, the R2 has three USB ports and I don't want all of them used up by my mouse and keyboard. I could get a USB hub, but I was considering the possibility of plugging one of the USB cords into a USB power adapter on my surge protector instead. Would this work, or do both of the cords need to be plugged into the computer or a hub?

Curious minds want to know. :D Thanks!

I am sure that could work, as long as the usb cord that actually is the keyboard is plugged into the m14xR2. The other usb cord is for the lights. I think as long as it is powered, it should be fine to do that.
Though to make sure this idea works, see if Command Center detects the Tactx keyboard.

This is true, it should work like that. Using a hub could not work as the power would be a lot more limited depending on what you have attached to it.
