    Hi all,

Been thinking (& thinking) about a new laptop. I really want a M14x but after reading up on it and some of the things I've been hearing I have been very reluctant to pull the trigger.

I have owned both Alienware & Digital Storm pc's the past 10 years. I had an Alienware Aurora back from 2001 to 2004, then a Cyberpower from 04-05, Digital Storm from 2006-08 and another DSO from 08 to present. These have all been desktop pc's so I have not owned a laptop from any of them.

I currently have a Dell xps 1640 which my wife uses mainly. It runs COD fairly well, but seems to get a bit on the hot side.

Digital Storm is a few hundred bucks cheaper than a comparable AW system, but they do not offer anything with a light up keyboard which I am pretty adamant about & trying to overcome. The other thing to me is the warranty. THREE years parts & labor & LIFETIME tech support. AW will dump you after 12 months unless you pony up some serious cash.

I know I'm on a more Alienware friendly thread here, but has anyone or know anyone who has owned a Digital Storm laptop? Not a lot of info out here. Like I said, I've owned two desktop rigs from them and they have been stellar. My current on my mobo went out a few months ago & I had to send it back and it was replaced (only cost to me was $37 shipping) and they replaced my huge cpu fan with liquid cooling for only $35 dollars since they said the coolling fan may have damaged the motherboard. My heart tells me to go with DS, but I like the AW case and lighting.

DSO's all come pre-configured, where AW I can customize more things to my tastes.

Yeah, seeing the laptops on that link they definately look familiar.

Still, the warranty on DSO is making me consider them. Dellienware is a worry, but soooo dam cool. I've always been lucky with electronics, probably because I take very good care of my stuff so I might just be ok with the Alienware...maybe.

I've never heard of DSO before but judging at the spec you list above. DSO has the same GPU as M14x but run at 1080p so in Gaming it will be a burden if you want to run it at max setting and native res, RAM offer lower than M14x's too, but for the warranty I prefer it over AW, however I prefer performance over those stuff, for AW I can extend them anyway so I'd choose AW over DSO.

Keep in mind if you go with the Alienware, you can barter and save $200-300 pretty easily.

I tried, they would only take $20 bucks off the price, I was quite dissapointed. And since my wife is still in school I tried for the xbox and they said I could only get that w/the pre-configured model. BOOOO!

It sure looks like it. I've been on Sager's site, and configs and the laptop shell seems to be the exact same. Sager makes a good laptop eitherway.
