    Any news on new Bios: A07, A08??

    Hi guys,

    I was wondering if there is any current information regarding future bios releases for the M14x?

    I am not quite happy with fan control and would rather have it solved with the bios tables in stead with hwinfo (gr8 Programm, no doubt)

    I think the newest public release is the A05, and not sure what those newer BIOS version (A06-07) are for though plus to that they are available only to newer M14x - according to most of the heating issue threads here.

    My guess is we won't see another released bios from dell. They typically stop and call it good after a year.

    Some people got A06 bios, it comes standard with recently purchased m14x. Does anyone know where I can get a hand on it? and does anyone know the difference between A05 and A06?

    sorry what do you mean not happy with the fan? A bios that makes the machine more quiet means its also either going to run SLOWER and HOTTER. Its just how the machine is designed. So its either loud and get the best performance out of the machine or quiet and slower. HWinfo32 can be used to control the fan. Its works as I am using it now when needed. I don't know exactly what you are expecting out of a bios release. Its really very simple.. Quiet = hot/ slower LOUD = cool/better performance.

    I am not worried about how hot the machine gets with every other bios, I believe that fan does its job pretty good, what I do not like is it not running at all for 5 min and then turning up to 3000+ rpm for 3-5 min; this can annoy the hell out of people. Would it not be a little more effective letting the fan run right away at let’s say 2000 rpm. This is what I do woth HWinfo, manually set it to 2400 while not gaming, usually never hits 55 while on the desktop. I am setting in front of my Work Laptop, (Lenovo T-520) and the fan do not shut off at all, it also has an I7, one fan and runs cool and quiet.
