Hey guys.
My setup is almost complete but not quite, and I need some of your help to finish it off.
I'm looking for a gaming headset, preferably surround sound, 5.1 or 7.2, price doesn't matter, the problem here being that you only have 3 USB slots on the M14x and all of mine are occupied, so I need it to run through the audio jacks.
I like the BlackShark (Razer) but that's not surround sound, and the ugly BF3 logo puts me off, so can I get some advice from you guys?

Shame u cant free up a usb slot - maybe a splitter? I have the logitech G930 headset and they are probably the best tech item i've ever spent my money on

You mean a USB splitter? I have a pass-through from my cooler (the U2) but things like my keyboard and mouse (Lycosa, Deathadder respectively) dont work in it, but I can charge my phone and move files from the PC > Mobile and vice versa in the pass-through. Which is strange.

Hey guys.
I've done some research and come up with a headset that would work to my understanding.
Razer
The Tiamat is USB powered and plugs into the 3.5mm jacks, so I can buy something like this BELKIN - F8Z121AU - USB AC WALL CHARGER for the power and use my jacks and have it working.
The thing I am worried about, in it's requirements it says that it requires a 7.1 enabled sound card.
I'm not sure, but isn't the M14x R2 only 5.1?
So the headset would only produce 5.1 channel audio. But then laz above has the G930 which is also 7.1, he has essentially the same M14x as I do and it seems like he runs 7.1 fine. So I'm confused here.
Does the G930 have an onboard sound card? -
EDIT: actually just found this http://mobile.logitech.com/en-us/265/6100 (sorry on my phone so cbf linking) which seems to suggest it is true 7.1 sound and can create it virtually if the computer is only playing in stereo or 5.1. This may be happening to me I can't be sure but either way it sounds amazing. The wireless range and g keys on them are awesome features too. And battery life is great too. Basically I just love them - nothing bad to say except that the feeling of them may take a while to get used too I remember them feeling a bit tight and hot when I first got them - don't notice anything now though -
Nah, they're real 7.1, they have like 5-6 3.5mm jacks which I didn't notice before.
I made up my mind, I'm going to buy Razer Megalodon 7.1 Surround Sound Wired Pc Gaming Headset | Games & Consoles, Accessories, Online Only Gaming Gear : JB HI-FI the Razer Megalodon on Monday.
If it doesn't work with the pass-through socket then I'll just buy a USB hub. -
I prefer wireless personally but each to their own
