Despite having a brand new m14x, to some extent making sure everything was up-to-date, turning off anti-virus, and having a good internet connection, Battlefield 3:

    a) would only connect to a server once, after that it kept failing to contect
    b) crashing for no reason, every 10 minutes
    c) telling me I had insufficient GPU memory, despite having a 3gb card

Granted I could have probably re-installed everything half a dozen times etc, which would have probably taken a lot of time, but in the end I felt this game was not really stable enough to warrent my money.

I took it to GAME and got a full refund, but not without referring to the Sale of Goods Act 1974, phoning GAME Head Office and then having a 30 min debate with the manager. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to kick up a fuss, but I effectively paid £30+ for nothing.

What's the point of this post? I suppose I just want to say that if a product really is such poor quality you should exercise your right to a refund.

I have had almost zero problems with BF3 and my m14x. I have the 1.5G card. Only issue is... the game crashes the first time I try and join a server. Outside of that it runs perfectly. What video drivers are you using? Stock drivers won't handle it very well.

your problem seems to be an isolated one cow1eh...I am playing BF3 without any problem so far.Maybe there was some driver issue with your unit. So far game is running smooth.

You absolutely right. Unless we kick these guys where it hurts most ( refunds and sales), they are gonna take us for granted.

The only 2 problem I got with BF3 is the less server because living in an isolated country is not that easy life as a gamer, the second problem is like WookieeFart, but just exit out of BF3 and re-join the server again and it will work, this seem to happen to everyone for some unknown reason.

I do know that BF3 seem to have many problems, but it is all being fixed patch by patch. But I have several question want to ask you.

    1) Are you sure that your laptop have the latest NVIDIA driver? The current latest is 290.36 BETA.

    2) The server that fail to connect, is it just only one or two particular server or all server (including oversea), and are you sure that you have your firewall unblock the PunkBuster? Oh and talking about PB, it also require you to manually update the program. If you havent update, then most likely those server that have an updated PB will kick you out. This perhaps is the reason.

    3) Have you whitelist the program? And what browser are you? Because I saw some thread on both NBR and BFlog, saying that if you use FF to play BF3, you'll experience some memory leak or insufficient memory, and this can be fix by play on another browser like Google Chrome or IE or Safari, I personally prefer Chrome because it use the least memory out of all browsers and load/start fastest.

By the way, it is not surprise that BF3 is having many problems, because it use a less than one year old engine - Frostbite 2.

Sounds like it wasn't switching from the Intel graphics to nvidia , the optimus technology has had some problems. Esp with GTA 4

But not BF3, if it BF3, then everyone here would have problem with it, especially me, since I have the same GPU version as the OP, and I have never get any one of those problem (except for the crash during the first join game) the OP had. So I think it is maybe either just his laptop or he didnt fully update everything.

A bad job by moving multiplayer option to website interface...would have been much better if multiplayer option was accessible from right inside the game menu like there in Crysis and such. Connection problems, Origin software......EA needs to get its act together. like right now.
