I am considering purchasing a refurbished Alienware 14 with a standard DVD optical drive. If I purchase it, I would like to upgrade the DVD drive with a Blu-ray one. Is the Panasonic UJ-167 compatible? Are the Panasonic UJ-267 and UJ-265 Blu-ray burner drives also compatible with the Alienware 14?

Thanks for reading and any information.

ODD´s don´t have many compatibility issues, as long as they are slot load you should be good to go.

you do need to verify that it is 9.5mm in height. There are slot load BDR drives out there that are thicker (12.5mm I think). The 9.5mm optical drives are classified as "slim". Just don't want to see you get a standard thickness drive and not be able to put the base panel back on. I got the panasonic in a m14xR2 and am very happy with it. I also previously bought a Pioneer BDR-US01 from ebay that I put in my R1. had some issues with that one. I dont think it was ever commercially released. it would burn BDR's, and read everything, but I couldn't get it to burn a DVD without errors.

    good luck!
